Offering the Nets pick for Cousins is a dumbass fan offer. This is such a casual fan offer.

If that's what NO demands for a disgruntled, FA-bound headcase like Cousins they can get fucked. Cousins is worth no more than Thompson's carcass and a pick.
I think the Pelicans would rather sell tickets for the remainder of the year than take on that garbage.I'd offer TT + our 2018 1st max for Cousins. The Nets pick wouldn't even be brought into consideration.

That is obviously a good problem to have. That is like you complaining of having 5 supermodel girlfriends and your friend is picking which one you will be going out with that night. Win/Win.IT,Wade, Lebron, Love, Cousins.. WHO GETS THE BALL? trying to figure that out halfway through the season with Lue as your coach is a scary thought.
I disagree about Cousins being worth the Nets pick, but at least you've come around to actually calling it the Nets pick.If we could get Cousins to commit to re-sign then he is certainly worth the Nets pick. Of course that is a big "if". But if you want to win championships today (as opposed to fantasizing about the future) you would for sure make that trade IMO.
But I don't see Gilbert making the trade because he saves a ton of money by having someone on a rookie contract instead of a max for Cousins.
And it is true that the Nets pick looks a lot better today than it did yesterday...
Its not just the savings that is attractive, but the flexibility. You max out Cousins, and you'll never bring in another legitimate free agent during the LBJ era. The team was 13-21 when Lin was on the court last season (.382).
Over the course of a season, that would make them a 32 or so win team.
Nets were 7-41 when Lin was off the court last season (.146).

The players they added were garbage out, garbage in.
The Nets are, unequivocally, awful without Lin.
I don't know why so many people think they won't (or are not likely to be) the worst team.
Not really sure if Lin was that good or it was just because they had no backup PG to replace him.. Having Isaiah Whitehead and Dinwiddie as your stating PGs isn't the same as having D-Lo.
Even if they're bottom 3 it's still incredible odds. But damn, this season has started terribly. Hayward and Lin going down. Hayward not coming back this season (though with the Celtics you never know what their medical staff would do).
