Wow, feel bad for Lin. Great news for us but shitty it had to happen this way.

We've already benefited immensely from two season ending injuries, praying we don't experience it either.

I'm sorry but IF someone could convince Cousins to commit to 2-3 years, Cousins >>>> Nets Pick. Simple. Also to all those guys saying Cousins is not good at defense, well, please watch last nights game (i know, one game). He looked incredible on D, I mean like All-NBA! 7 Blocks! He was moving so well, it was amazing, he was lighter and quicker.

Offering the Nets pick for Cousins is a dumbass fan offer.

If that's what NO demands for a disgruntled, FA-bound headcase like Cousins they can get fucked. Cousins is worth no more than Thompson's carcass and a pick.

Probably have to sweeten that deal with one of our rookies, but I agree Cousins is not worth TT and the Nets pick because of his history of being a headcase.

Or another team comes in with a better offer than a giant long term contract and the 29th pick in the draft.

Not saying we should offer the Brooklyn pick but that offer would get laughed at.

IT,Wade, Lebron, Love, Cousins.. WHO GETS THE BALL? trying to figure that out halfway through the season with Lue as your coach is a scary thought.
That is obviously a good problem to have. That is like you complaining of having 5 supermodel girlfriends and your friend is picking which one you will be going out with that night. Win/Win.

I'm not sure it'll be possible to suck harder than the Bulls, but I do think the Nets are a sure fire bottom 4 team.

That's all you can ask for. We will likely have a decent shot at the #1 pick and a very high likelihood of a top 5 pick. I see at least 5 high level, elite, star-level prospects, and some lower rung all star guys after that. 2 or 3 guys are possible mega-super-duper star prospects of the AD/KD/LBJ ilk.

Michael Porter....come on downnnnnnn

If we could get Cousins to commit to re-sign then he is certainly worth the Nets pick. Of course that is a big "if". But if you want to win championships today (as opposed to fantasizing about the future) you would for sure make that trade IMO.

But I don't see Gilbert making the trade because he saves a ton of money by having someone on a rookie contract instead of a max for Cousins.

And it is true that the Nets pick looks a lot better today than it did yesterday...

I disagree about Cousins being worth the Nets pick, but at least you've come around to actually calling it the Nets pick.

Its not just the savings that is attractive, but the flexibility. You max out Cousins, and you'll never bring in another legitimate free agent during the LBJ era. If it doesnt work, its over.

I'm personally all in on the "bring in the rook to be the Duncan to Bron's Admiral"

It's rare that title contenders get a chance to maybe draft an elite prospect with a top 3-5 pick. The Spurs turned that scenario into 5 titles and 20 years of 50 win teams(I know the Spurs are unlikely to be replicated though)

I like Cousins but not enough to trade the chance at an elite rookie that we control for 7-9 years.

Put a guy like Michael Porter on this team and protect him offensively with Bron and defensively with Crowder and just watch him blossom into an all time great...that's what
I'm doing with the pick.

Cousins has too many question marks and blemishes on his record to sacrifice the opportunity to solidify the next decade of Cavs basketball.

I need a legit top 10-12 player with no character blemishes to trade that pick. Guys that just won't be traded. George, Giannis, AD, Butler. 0.0000000001% chance of any of that....I'd trade it for Klay or Draymond too but obviously theres 0% chance of that.....

Just not seeing any trade that makes sense.
Boogie doesn't count.

Get boogie and you can't play him and Love versus GS. So then Love has to go for a wing and you're going to lose value on that trade his market isn't very hot. Just not worth it.

The team was 13-21 when Lin was on the court last season (.382).

Over the course of a season, that would make them a 32 or so win team.

Nets were 7-41 when Lin was off the court last season (.146).

Over the course of a season, that would make them a 12 or so win team.

The players they added were garbage out, garbage in.

The Nets are, unequivocally, awful without Lin.

I don't know why so many people think they won't (or are not likely to be) the worst team.

Not really sure if Lin was that good or it was just because they had no decent backup PG to replace him with.. Having Isaiah Whitehead and Dinwiddie as your starting PGs isn't the same as having D-Lo.

Russell had 30, 5 and 4 and they still lost last night to Indiana.

Even if they're bottom 3 it's still incredible odds. But damn, this season has started terribly. Hayward and Lin going down. Hayward not coming back this season (though with the Celtics you never know what their medical staff would do).

Eh, in the sense two guys went down for the year and you never want to see that (unless it's KD, Steph, or Draymond)... then yes, that's terrible. But as a Cavs fan have those two injuries really been so terrible?
