Damn, Jimmy G this is some serious good quarterbacking.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean how naive is it to assume it wasn't going to happen?

The Pats would take the most assets they could get. They got a 2nd rounder.

They're one of the best run organizations in sports and I'm sure they want to maximize their capital to keep improving their roster because they're surely not dumb.

We never beat the offer.

WTF are you talking about? How can you say we never tried to beat SF offer after you just read that we offered the #12 pick in teh draft for him? You're trying to speak for NE and CLE right now and you look bad doing both.

THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS WERE NOT GOING TO TRADE JIMMY GAROPPOLO TO THE CLEVELAND BROWNS. GET OVER IT!!!!!

HOW ABOUT WE START A RUMOR ABOUT THE BROWNS TRADING FOR AARON RODGERS AND WHEN GREEN BAY DOESN'T DO IT WE BLAME IT ON OUR FRONT OFFICE? THAT'S HOW YOU SOUND RIGHT NOW. RIDICULOUS LOLOLOLOLOL

So Schefter, Pluto, Mary Kay, Rapoport are all lying/wrong?

Because every single one of them says the Browns made a better offer - both in April AND in October - than what the 49ers eventually got the Patriots to accept.

Just admit that you're talking out of your ass.

I just don't believe those reports. Sounds like a falsified leak of information to me.

Wouldn't make sense not to maximize your capital, especially if you're the Pats.

But that's all I'll say on the subject because it seems to be getting a rise out of people.

Chill bro it's an Internet forum. :chuckle:

Then I guess we're done here :chuckle:

If you're not going to accept four different sources all independently reporting the same thing, included the most well respected news breaker in the business, then we really have nothing else to discuss here.

Well we just saw the Pacers take a lesser deal in the Paul George trade, so it definitely happens.

I think people really underestimate the portion of the deal where the Patriots essentially got Hoyer to be their back-up for free. I think that's the main reason they preferred a deal with San Francisco. They got a solid asset (San Fran's second) and a back-up who was already familiar with their system. Win-win for them. They probably figured that Hoyer is worth the two or three spots lower that second would have been over ours.

The only thing getting a rise out of people is you seemingly making shit up just to satisfy your logic.

By all reports, the Pats wouldn't trade him to the Browns.

Schefter reported this. Schefter LOVES shitting on the Browns for missing on QBs. He'd much rather report that the Browns could have had Jimmy G and dropped the ball. But that's not what he reported because that wasn't the case.

Sure, but it came with them “cutting” the guy and a preconceived understanding that said player would sign with them.

Collusion. Motherfucking collusion.

I was crucified when I told y’all Jimmy was the truth I wanted him traded to Cleveland too.

Eh

Me, Triplethreat, RG, and godfather were schilling pretty hard for Jimmy G for over a year now. I think (don’t feel like going back to look it up) I settled in on our second rounder and the Houston second rounder (this was also before Houston was complete and utter dog shit with half their team on IR

If you really pressed me right now I’d probably give up the Texans first rounder for him. That’s my hindsight trade

I have been really high on Jimmy for a while. I think he will be a perennial top 12 QB

Belicheck held out until the last minute, no doubt hoping for a better offer. I don't doubt that the Browns offered more back in April- that was well before the trade deadline. Maybe Bill felt he needed insurance heading into the season with his 40 year old QB, maybe he felt another team would get desperate and up the offer. Who knows. The point is, at some juncture the communication between the Browns and Patriots stopped, when it should have resumed @ the deadline if the Browns truly thought Garropolo would solve their QB issues. It's obvious they didn't, otherwise they would have gotten a deal done. Oh well. The GM who 'biffed' it is now gone, so rejoice! Everyone here can be in the right... And who knows, Dorsett could right this in the offseason if he blows Garropolo's doors off with an offer- since it would be idiotic of Garropolo not to hit FA. I guess we find out...

Well, regardless of whether we could have, or couldn't have, you can still blame the ineptitude of this organization.

Tom Brady and Jimmy G do share the same agent. So it's probably true, and there was a report that the Pats didn't want to trade him here. Because they feared we'd ruin his career.

I highly doubt the Hoyer situation played any part in it. I mean, Brian Hoyer, is Brian Hoyer. If something happen to Brady they're fucked.

I think the Pats didn't want to do a disservice to Jimmy.

It's not like the 49ers have been a ringing endorsement for stability, and a great path forward.

It just shows we're in our own class when it comes to be so fucking dysfunctional, awful, and nearly impossible for anyone at all to succeed.

If we just showed a little bit a progression, a little progress. Maybe not everyone would go running to the hills when we call.

After trading for Jimmy G, they had no reason to keep Hoyer.

I think people read way too much into the "he once played here" scenario.

Hoyer was on the verge of being benched, and run out of the league arguably.

He's not good.

I don't know why anyone would pretend like the Pats getting Hoyer is a serious deal bargain.

It's just a coincidence. One, they didn't have a backup now. And two, sure, he once played there and at least knows the system. Doesn't mean THAT is a deal breaker.

I just find it seriously hysterical anyone would suggest the Pats would turn down higher value in a trade, just to get Brian Fuckin' Hoyer.

Don't make me laugh.

It's like saying the Browns should turn down a better trade, if they could get back Brandon Fuckin' Weeden, because he once played here and knows the system. :chuckle:
