Loved that movie.

Did you ever watch season 2, episode 1 of Black Mirror? That episode is semi-related to Ex-Machina (which I loved). Since it's an anthology series, there is no real reason to watch it in order, but there are several episodes you'd like.

Ex-Machina and the new Blade Runner are easily the two best sci-fi films I've seen in a long time. Both fantastic films that in their own way are everything sci-fi should be.
The robot is sexist

I will now...

Silence - 3/10.

Sure, it was Scorsese, and brilliantly shot. And I'm sure it made some very profound observations about religion and the human spirit in 17th century Japan.

But it bored/annoyed the hell out of me.
Basically 2+ hours of mental and physical torture porn to convince some priests to step on Jesus.

Also saw a low-budget documentary on the guy who wire-walked between WTC-1 and WTC-2 after it was built. Pretty cool to see all the preparation and deception necessary to pull it off. 7/10 as docs go.

Best movie ever starring Oscar Isaac and Domnhall Gleeson, amirite?

Got to catch up on some of the Oscar season movies. LadyBird, The Post and Darkest Hour are still on my "to see" list. But the ones I saw recently:

The Shape of Water - Very creative visually, interesting yet simple premise, and one dimensional characters. It's definitely a Guillermo Del Toro movie. Good acting, though. Octavia Spencer is a national treasure.

Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri - Imagine "Manchester by the Sea" but with likable characters. Batshit insane characters, but likable. Sam Rockwell is a national treasure.

Jumani - OK, not an Oscar bait movie. I really liked the original as a kid. This is exactly what you'd think from the trailers. Pretty fun. Future President The Rock is a national treasure.

Disaster Artist - Really great. The good Franco will probably get some best actor buzz for it.

Saw The Disaster Artist today.

Great film. I can sympathize with the hell that is dealing with a crazy person.

Krampus - 6/10. But I'll give it an 8/10 watching it on Chritmas Eve with some spiked egg nog. It was very entertaining.

Just started "Gremlins"...an XMAS classic.

I have a new take on that film:

Billy Peltzer committed Gremlin genocide. The Gremlins weren’t so bad. They offed the true evil in the town, Mrs. Deagle. They wanted a normal life which included caroling, going to the bar, and going to the movies. They were watching Snow White, not bothering a soul, and Billy nukes them!

Also, Billy was the breadwinner of the family. Mom was a homemaker and the dad was an unemployed inventor.

God, I literally hated every single character in Manchester by the sea. Every one.

Yeah, I didn't get the love for that movie. Everyone said it was fantastic, but every character seemed really boring and one-note the entire film. Even the cinematography was nothing special to me, since I can't remember a single memorable shot from that film today?

I remember watching it since it was compared to Moonlight as the best drama of the year, but Moonlight is right up there with the best movies I've ever seen and Manchester seemed totally overrated.

Couldn't agree more. I watched it with 8 people at home. Was the only one who stayed awake for the entire movie. Just boring.
