New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I watched a couple years ago. Honestly I think the production value really got in the way. It looked corny as fuck and like it should have been on wgn on a Sunday afternoon

Did you try to watch it recently or when it orginally aired?

I do think it was a show built for the time it aired. It was before any streaming or binging. Most people were still watching TV live and the ones who were DVRing it knew to watch it as soon as they could. People talked about it the next day and people would go into discussion on the internet with theories. That was part of the experience of the show.
I

Started binging Brooklyn Nine-Nine this week.

Watched it when it first came out, liked it, but just lost track of it over time. Such a great show. Glad I'm all caught up on it now.

Each character is just so perfect.

I was so bummed when it was announced Fox was cancelling. Glad NBC swooped in and picked them up. They're now home to my two favorite TV comedies (B99 and The Good Place).

Funny, I really wanted to like The Leftovers-- but for the life of me could not get past the first few episodes.

Not many people like the first season of the Leftovers. It's a hard watch. It's very dark and depressing. That being said, 2nd and 3rd season are extremely good. All the mistakes of the first season are corrected quickly in the 2nd. I assume it only got 3 season because the first one was so hard to watch that they knew it wasn't going to be bingable. It is a complete story though which barely any 3 season shows are. They knew after season 2 that season 3 would be the last and it was written as such.

That's the thing, I love dark and depressing stuff. What I was watching just had zero redeeming qualities. Characters, score, plot. If you have to fight that hard to get through it to the other side I don't find it worth it.

It was alot easier to watch it week by week when it aired. I thought it was going to make the turn at some point in the season but the turning point is actually the first episode of the 2nd season.

I remember I was ready to quit the show at the end of the first season and critics were saying to watch the first episode of season 2. The creators were on podcasts saying they made a shift and wanted to make a better show. The opening sequence of season 2 grabs you immediately.

Lindeloff took over season 2. The source material had been exhausted at the conclusion of season 1, so it was all him from then on.

Now almost done with Expanse season 2: so fucking good.
Doesn't push the security angle with face recognition to suspend disbelief completely on my part but damn so well don

The new look Data:

seriously, though: I imagine if they could keep making movies with the TOS cast, they can make new shows with TNG cast. They invented reasons for Kirk to end up on the bridge, but never really bothered with reasons the rest of the crew never really getting promoted. They didn't even bother to explain why Spock aged so much when he should have aged about half as fast as everyone else.

Data is really the only crew member who shouldn't age.

Fuck can they at least find a way to kill off Kirk in a good way. Can't believe god damn James Tiburon Kirk of all people doesn't go down with his ship. Instead he dies alone on some shit hole planet that no one every heard of fighting some enemy that no one even remembers.

Almost makes Han Solo's death palatable (almost)

I really hated that too... Would've preferred they left him in the Nexus; or brought him forward into the future as they did with Scotty.

In fact, in TNG, Scotty, Spock and McCoy are all still alive; and Generations is only 8 years after the Farpoint Mission. Kirk could've been brought forward and met Spock in the 24th century...

Anyone got Showtime or Starz account and wanna share? :D

The Forest on Netflix is worth a watch. Murder/mystery that kinda reminds me of the 1st season of The Killing. It’s only 6 episodes- something to binge

How many episodes deep did you go? I am not disagreeing with you because, that is precisely the reason why it got cancelled. If you watched the entire first season and still could not get into it, then it is a different matter, but if all you did was give 4 - 5 episodes then it is not enough. I watched the entire season 1 and once the story and the characters started falling into places i really enjoyed it. Season 2 is even better.

Also, when checked on sites like IMDB and RottenTomatoes, The Expanse is doing much better than Fear The Walking Dead and as good as The Walking Dead. And considering it is in SyFy which makes mostly B grade cheesy flicks and series which are maybe entertaining but not sensible enough, this was a game changer for them. Hence my shock.

I feel like a dumbass, I went back to try to watch expanse again yesterday because of what everyone said. It said I watched the first 10 minutes of the first episode which I didn't think was right so I just started it from the beginning. I guess I've been thinking Expanse was Dark Matter for years now. I think I tried watching both at close to the same time and it blended together. Both are space shows on SyFy so I guess it wasn't that hard to confuse them.

I'm 2 episodes into Expanse and I'm in. I plan to try to binge as much of it as I can this weekend between World Cup and Cavs Summer league games
