My only problem with Arians is that you are immediately looking towards the next HC. Can he coach until he is 70? Hes already had health problems and retired twice.
Let's go back to Mike McCarthy for a second, though. People claiming that McCarthy had bad talent....while I wont disagree that Thompson started to suck, this is the same coaching staff who decided that Damarious Randle was a corner and not a safety. Same coaching staff that played Ty Montgomery over Jones. Hes the same dip shit who had to give up play calling 2 times because he couldn't get it done.
McCarthy is not a good head coach. Packers fans would be celebrating in the streets if we took him off their hands. And Rodgers would be right there with them celebrating.
Bruce Arians would need to come with a succession plan in place.
Good coach, though. No doubt.
Pete Carmichael is another guy I saw mentioned who makes a ton of sense.
Grass ain't always greener
And McCarthy is not Green grass. Hes more like astroturf. Looks good from afar but really is just fake as hell.
Mike McCarthy has only missed the playoffs 3 times in 12 years. He's coached his team to 2 of the last 3 NFC Championship games. If there's greener grass in the NFL during that span please show me. I imagine your list will be either very short or filled with potential.
....
Ty Lue has been to 4 straight Finals. Is he a good coach?
Coaching football and coaching basketball are not even close to the same thing.
How many first round picks would it take to get mcvay? Bill Simmons was talking about it on his last podcast and suggested 4 first every other year. and even that might not be enough.
