The Browns clearly wanted to give the incoming head coach (if it's not Kitchens) the opportunity to interview and retain Freddie as OC if they were comfortable doing that.

But it wasn't a mandate. The head coach gets to hire his own staff. If Stefanski gets the HC gig and doesn't gel with Kitchens, then Freddie will be let go.

Don’t agree.

The Browns are going to do whatever they can to keep Kitchens in the building. I’m willing to bet of Stefanski didn’t say he was okay with it he wouldn’t be a finalist.

The Browns are that much in love with their interim HC.

Honest question: is this insider stuff or just a theory? Both are fine, I just have not followed the whole conversation, so I’m interested.

Dorsey already said publicly that it's up to the head coach who the coordinators are. Eliminating guys from contention, especially guys you really like, because they wouldn't be willing to keep one of the assistants is absolutely asinine. If you like the assistant so much to the point where you'd force him on a new coach, you might as well just hire that assistant as the head coach himself.

Hell... Freddie might not even want to stay if he doesn't get the head coaching gig. It might be a situation where he wants to leave.

Just how I feel from the information available to us.

Don’t think anything would be forced.

Which is why if they are serious about Stefanski, when asked about his staff he said Kitchens is a guy he’d like at OC in my opinion.

But I still firmly believe this is Freddie’s job.

I bet @Hydroponic3385 would be elated about a Childress/Stefanski pairing because he gets two super fuckable dudes running one high powered offense.

Only one that Hydro would fuck, of course, but everyone else can get after Stefanski while he takes care of Bad Brad.

I just want a united front.

I want Dorsey, Wolf, Berry, JW, DePodesta, Hillbilly Jim and Sweet Dee to all be 100% committed to the same guy.

As long as that happens, I don't really care who it is specifically.

Word from the OBR (for what it’s worth) is that it is coming down to Dorsey vs Depo.

No idea what this means internally (still collaborative? contentious?)

Jimmy makes the final call and I would hope Dorsey’s pull on his ear is greater.

Somewhat concerning stuff in Berea.
