In Tristan's defense, he's the best screen setter and offensive rebounder we have. High bball IQ, defends well, + he's a tough guy. Generally doesn't hurt us out there.

I know where you're coming from though. I've got a little Thompson fatigue myself--really wish he could shoot it. If Henson and Zizic beat him out for minutes, it will be in our team's best interest, but I'm not expecting it to happen.

Coach has hinted at it, and honestly Tristan doesn't fit the system he rand at Michigan, but we will see.

I mean one season he ran McGary at Center for Michigan. One of the years with Trey Burke. Tristian is basically a better version of McGary provided him that year. Depends on what system hes running though because past couple of years hes liked Centers who have decent range like Mo Wagner or Jon Teske (Didn't hit at a good percentage but did take 2 3s a game last year).

Let me start here...

Even going back to early career Klay...

Is Windler as physical as Klay? Does he move around off screens as much as Klay? Does he play defense as well as klay?
Exactly. If it were as simple as “catch and shoot” the NBA would be full of a lot of coach’s sons who can shoot the piss out of the ball but can’t handle the thousand other factors that determine success in the nba.

So the Klay Thompson comparison is not fair to the kid nor accurate. Klay seems a lot more fluid in his movement and he has an unreal quick release. Not to say that this kid is a poor athlete but I don’t see the Klay comparison beyond the fact that each shot the ball very well from distance. Mirotic of the Bucks formerly of New Orleans and Chicago is probably a better upside comparison if he hits his ceiling. Honestly I am very happy if he can be in a regular rotation, hit open jumpers, pass, cut and try hard as a team defender and rebound with the same tenacity as college . If he can do all that, then you have great value with 26. But not seeing A Klay Thompson type .

Summer League MVP right here fellas, he’s like Josh Hart if Josh Hart was any good

I just hope we're a contender by the time he reaches his prime!

...in 2 years

Jeez.. his ability to shoot off the dribble..
Will he be a le to bulk up and play the 4?
Can he play the 2?

His film is impressive. Someone mentioned dollar store Klay... but gah damn this dude can shoot the fuckin ball like i haven’t seen from a prospect in awhile.

Wouldn’t it be funny if the Hawks got blown by the media all summer about building GS 2.0 and Garland/Windler end up being the much closer Curry/Klay comparison?

I think 19 year olds are more likely to be able to bulk up. Windler will be 23 when he starts to play for us, by that age you are close to your full weight.

I think NBA strength and conditioning can basically bulk anyone up if they put in the work.

I don’t necessarily want him to bulk up too much. I’m more than fine if he plays much more 2-3 than he does small ball PF.

He keeps that stroke from deep pure and competes everywhere else...kid will be just fine.

Strength matters more than bulk and any player can add strength while avoiding the excess bulk that can slow a player down. Body-weight exercises, high rep weights, and resistance bands can accomplish that ezpz.

Harris is physically stronger. Windler does look like he can be pushed around defensively. Lack of strength seems to be his biggest drawback physically.

Trick is going to be adding strength without costing him speed/quickness. But if he does that...he could end up being really good.

I think Harris is hotter. I'm a sucker for rosy cheeks. But I'd like to judge for myself the measurables between the two.

Harris is thicker, wider. Has girth and a meat and potatoes style of play. But Windler has that length on him, that explosion and fluidity. It comes down to skill and technique.

I think Windler is going to be the better, more versatile ball-player. I think he has better ball-handling skills. I think he tops Harris' ceiling.

Bottom line, at the very least he'll be a great shooter in this league. By the time he's done he'll have loads of buckets. @The Oi @Hydroponic3385

If he is a better version of Chase Budinger, that would be a good value for a 26th pick... Hope his defense would be passable at the NBA, athletic profile is good but he kinda run awkwardly...

Defensively he might struggle with really quick guards like Beal for example.. but offensively he will take advantage of sloppy defenders ( like Hood for example) .

I also think his numbers might have been influenced by Morant. It's a lot easier to stroke a catch and shoot three if you get it in the pocket.. Of our guards Delly seems to be the only one who understands that..

Reminds me more of a Illyasova/good Morris brother with just a dash of Peja in there.

I have no idea how he makes half of his threes, but his rebounding is legit and his quickness coming off screens is evident. If he maintains/improves his ability to shoot and can be a passable NBA defender, he'll have a very long and successful NBA career.
