Definitely wouldnt complain with Mike Miller. But I just dont think he makes us anywhere near as dangerous from as many angles as we would be with Wallace.

I just don't see why minnesota parts with miller in exchange for expirings when he only has one more year left on his deal, and they are currently in contention for a 7/8 seed (which they probable will get)

We'd have to give up a hickson/gibson/DJ, and that's just not worth it

The only way that we would even consider Miller (whom I am a fan of getting) is if they did it for Wally or less. We wouldn't give one of those guys that you mentioned (with exception for maybe DJ, but even that is iffy) let alone all three. You're way off with that and Minnesota's GM would be wasting his time.

I didn't mean all three obviously...i meant one of the above guys...they aren't going to do the deal without getting young talent, mike miller doesn't have the type of deal that you get rid of for expirings

Those are good points. I admit I had some of the same criticisms before the trade was made....although I never thought of him as lazy. People far smarter than me said Mo was a bad fit in Milwaukee and that their team was just poorly assembled. They felt Mo's defensive problems could be covered up by Mike's system. For the most part they have been right.

My biggest concern with Wallace is the laziness. Are the lazy streaks a chicken or egg thing? Not sure if they are a cause or effect of being on a miserable team. It reminds me so much of when Darius played here, he just shuffles back and forth and lacks interest in stretches. Put him on the best team in the NBA and maybe that bad habit disappears....I don't know. I just don't see that competitive drive and that is a huge red flag for me.

That is NOT what we need. That game is exactly what I'm talking about. He seemed to take the game off. He got pulled 4 minutes into the game because he was going thru the motions. He made NO IMPACT in the game. His defense was suspect and the effort just wasn't there....that's why he got benched most of the game. He didnt play the 4th because the coach felt "he didn't deserve to". He only played 20mins, didnt score, didn't shoot, didn't get any steals or blocks, 1 assist. They were a team worst -6 when he was on the floor.

They made the comeback when he got benched.

I can understand the concerns about his motivation, but we have to keep things in perspective that his team has openly put him on the trading block, that can affect anyone. Look at the Bulls last year, those guys played terribly due to all the trade talk. This is a guy that has suffered 4 concussions, 3 of which were because he was reckless and basically playing with no regard for his own well being, that tells me he plays hard by itself.

If you want to talk impact, Mike Miller hasnt had any this year, he would be an upgrade over Wally but dont turn a blind eye to how pedestrian he's been with the Wolves. Wallace has had more good to great games this season than Miller by far, half the time if you watch the Wolves you wouldnt even know Miller is on the floor. Maybe he'd be better with a good team, but with a bad one he hasnt been better than Wallace has this year.

Wow, you couldnt be more off. Minny is 11-25. That current team couldnt make the NCAA tourney much less the NBA Playoffs. :chuckles: If minny went on a 46 game win streak, they would still win only 57 games. So they are out of it. If we trade them back wally, he is very popular their and he sells tickets. Then we take on a bad contract in Cardinal. Now cardinal expires next year too, but their are alot of good free agents this summer (including our own AV )....Cardinal expires before 2010, so its just saving them money, they will have 27 or 28 million in cap this summer, enough to sign a max type player (no not you maximus, lol) plus have enough for another major signing the following offseason. This would pair the two major free agents they aquired with AL Jeff, Love, Foye, and brewer, plus they are for sure a lottery team this year. That is a nice nucleus of 7 players, and Mike Miller isnt in that picture. Getting rid of him and cardinal does that for them. All it would cost is paying Cardinal one year, So I say its worth it. Also, dont underestimate the value of saving money to a rebuilding team.

Man, I would love to be a GM, lol

I'm not sure why i confuse minn and milwaukee every time i make a post....duh....

I'm still not sure if it makes sense though, Miller isn't really a bad contract, so I guess you have to take Brian Cardinal. And in the end I'm not sure that Miller really improves your team that much, is he that much better over west?

Currently we have Williams/West/Gibson at the 1/2 positions. They are all basically the same type of players, shooters with good passing ability who lack great penetrative ability or defense. Why add another player in the same mold?

Once you get to the playoffs, you'll want to play williams about 40 minutes a game, and play gibson/west about 30 each. I'm not sure how having williams play only 30, miller play 30, and gibson/west play 20 really helps your team that much.

And you still don't have someone to guard Pierce/Rondo/Kobe

No, Miller is not that much better than west at all. Thing is Miller is a former 6th man of the year. He is a 6'8 sg/sf who would come in and play the wally role. Except he shoots, defends and passes alot better than Wally. He would be a sharp shooter off the bench that can be used to give west and Lebron a blow and be used very effectively in small ball. He would be a huge upgrade to our bench and the over all team. In the playoffs you need an 8 or 9 man rotation. Our 3 starters, Boobie, Miller and AV, maybe even Hickson in situational circumstances. Miller makes alot of sense, but not as a starter.

Cardinal on the other hand, could even be bought out. He would be almost absolutely useless. He wouldnt even be able to get minutes from Jackson or Wright for that matter.

Oh and Miller could guard pierce or kobe for small stretches. We will have Mo guard rondo, wallace couldnt do that either. And we proved the other night, we do have someone to guard pierce already. His name is Lebron. I am sure you aree familure with his body of work.

I don't think Cardinal would be completely useless. He expires before 2010 summer. I think it'd be nice to have a nice expiring contract besides Ben (who we may still like to keep until his contract runs out) to give us flexibility at the deadline.

A bench of Varejao, Gibson, Miller/Wallace, and Hickson would be huge. Just as good as the top benches in the league like the Lakers, Utah, Houston, etc. if not the best.

I'd prefer Carter or Wallace over Miller. I havent watched him play much but I'm just not sold on him.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/bobcats/story/465253.html

"Brown wasn't so complimentary toward Wallace, who didn't play after leaving the game with just under nine minutes left in the third quarter and the Bobcats down eight. Wallace totaled 20 minutes, finishing with five rebounds, one assists, no points and no shot attempts.

“I didn't think he had any energy,” Brown said of Wallace. “I didn't think he was running. When Adam (Morrison, 11 points and three assists) came in, he gave us a lot of energy.”

Wallace said he was “very surprised” by the benching: “I was never told why he took me out.”

Told Brown said it was about energy, Wallace replied, “Everybody has their own opinion. I guess he felt I wasn't playing up to par.”

If we trade them back wally, he is very popular their and he sells tickets.

Plus, I'm almost certain everyone's favorite RCF member, Wally World would have a friggen romance explosion if Szczerbs went back to Minny.

Great point, buying him out would be stupid. If I ever get that GM job, you are hired as one of my assistants. :chuckles:
