Kareem Hunt: One Pissed Off Runner!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Hunt could be out four-to-six weeks while recovering from the strain. That could place Hunt's timeline anywhere from the Lions matchup in Week 11, the Ravens game in Week 12 or following the Browns' Week 13 Bye Week. That would place Hunt's potential return at home vs. the Ravens in Week 14, if the full six weeks is needed.

Assuming the cost isn't prohibitive, I'd rather have Akers than Hunt. Hunt looked washed the last time he played for us. He just didn't have that burst that he did in his prime.

Akers has 22 attempts for 29 yards so far. He wasn't good last year either. I'm not sure who is winning the "washed contest" between the two.

No disagreement that he was terrible in week one, but he was pretty good the last six weeks or so last year. I think it's possible he has something left in the tank. He's not old. He doesn't have a lot of miles on him due to injuries disrupting his first few years.

Hunt we know is done. He just wasn't that guy anymore last year and it was obvious.

This article is what I've been leaning on here:

It sounds like Akers had the #1RB gig locked down in L.A. but he was selfish, hard to coach, I don't know. Then he had two weeks away from the team as an inferior talent in Henderson took his job, only to fuck the whole thing up again this season.

I have concerns, especially since this Browns team will have their share of hard times.

Akers is no better than Hunt. The difference is Hunt can come in and play Sunday. I wouldn't mind having him out there to pick up blitzes instead of the young player with little experience doing it.

Hunt or whoever on the vet min makes the most sense, don't bother with giving up assets. You don't replace Nick Chubb.

The offense must change. Point blank, Watson MUST live up to the hype now. If he doesn't, the team is royally FUBAR'D

I'm taking Hunt over Akers simply for the emotional boost - even if limited - that it will give the team.

He's also familiar with the system, and he's not being brought in to be the lead back.

I still like him to come back in as a pass catching back.

No thanks on Akers. He may be talented but there is something going on with him that the Rams are perfectly fine getting rid of their 24 year old starting RB after week 1. He doesn't seem like a good addition to the locker room and his talent isn't that great to over come the nonsense.

I don't think Hunt has a lot left but he probably has something plus he's a plug and play guy for sunday.

That being said, if there are other options, I'd certainly explore those.

Hunt has nothing left. 0 reason to bring him in.

Washed
All the free agent options available to us are washed. All the running backs we can trade for will cost valuable assets that we cannot afford to give up.

We aren’t going to replace Chubb’s production, so just sign someone on a cheap deal who can take a few snaps in relief of Ford. Hunt seems like a safe bet. We already know how he gels with the locker room, he is familiar with the coaching staff and playbook.

We have no idea what kind of shape he is in. Does he have recent, shirtless workout hype videos? Preferably in slow motion for body fat analysis.

Plus Hunt would instantly be the best blocker of his position group and adds versatility as a pass catcher, regardless if he can't run like he used to.

I'm not all that interested in Hunt. I'd rather just play Ford and Strong and live with it.
