Kareem Hunt: One Pissed Off Runner!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hunt looked cooked last year but as the resident Jerome Ford bear I really think it’s gonna be closer than people think on which is the more productive back

Hunt is washed. But maybe he was just out of shape last year. Who knows. Maybe he comes back in better shape. But I doubt that was the only reason.

Plus Hunt would instantly be the best blocker of his position group and adds versatility as a pass catcher, regardless if he can't run like he used to.

That's the most likely explanation. There may be some younger guys with better pure running ability, but the blocking on this team will be critical. And being able to catch passes out of the backfield is huge too.

Almost more of a fullback role....

[Cue Grossi gif...]

Positive spin: 10 pounds lighter? He's gonna be fast!
Negative spin: During his time away from football, Kareem Hunt has lost 10 pounds of muscle

It's the same as the people talking every year in training camp about how guys put on 10 pounds of muscle and are in the best shape of their lives.

It's all farts and whistles.

So went back and watched highlights from last season vs 2021&2020 for Hunt. They asked him to run between the tackles alot more last season. They really set up for him to go to the outside in 2020 and 2021 with alot more blocking on the edges. I'm not sure his burst is that much different. To me they had plays designed to use Hunt to his strengths and as a weapon then last season he was used more a relief for Chubb.

Stefanski knows Hunt and his lomitations.. Hunt understands the Stefanski system .. Fanbase know Hunt by name, and the team knows him.. It's a no brainer for both parties..

Will this save the season? Well not really.. Watson needs to live up to his rep to do that..

Another thought I have is that it seems no quarterback has been stellar in our system.. one wonders if there is a system issue, whether that is play calling, or play design?

Other than the reasons I've already laid out why I think Hunt is the right move, he'll also boost the morale in the locker room which needs it after what happened to Chubb, and it also boost the morale of the fan base. If he's completely terrible, they can find someone else off the shit heap later. For now, it's what I would have done in Berry's place.

The morale issue is a huge point i didnt evern think about, this needs to be pointed out again

Baker had his best season under Stefanski and threw 26 TDs to 8 INT. The problem is the QB play, not the system
