2023-24 Season | Game #17 | Raptors @ Cavs | Nov. 26, 2023 | 7:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This thread is pure toxicity. If the team is losing or the game is in doubt the comments run 95% negative, some of them bordering on venomous.

There's a minority of people here who know basketball (and I don't consider myself one, I'm just a fan), and there are a minority who comment with legit criticisms of the coach and players. The majority just seem to be here to vent, to hate on players, and to trash players. Real Cavs Fans my ass. I'm ready to check the fuck out.

Ignore button is your friend.

There are more parrots repeating the same shit game after game than you’d find at a pirates’ convention.

Dont want to complain too much after what was a good win but I am so over JBB.

Mitchell didnt have it today. I think he is rushing after missing the first few shots and trying to make himself a contributor. His instincts are to take over more not take a step back when he doesnt have it going. This is something that can be utilized with the correct system, but not our basic 2002 offense.

JBB's rotations continue to baffle. You can rely on every starter playing at least 8 consecutive minutes once a half. Usually someone get to 10+ in a row. Guys just go in and out of the rotation regardless of their play. Okoro was fine for 8 mins and we never saw him after halftime. CPJ, who should be in the all rookie race, is just benched for no reason. TT doesnt make an appearence til JA is in foul trouble.

The overall defense from the bigs was great. The interior passing between them has been great. Even if both are nonshooters, they are doing a great job of maximizing each other on offense which lets them be utterly dominant on D. Like Mobley taking and hitting those long 2s recently. Once he starts getting that more consistent, there are other ways to build out the rest of his game.

DG was great today. not much else to say there

Strus and Niang are both great pickups. Strus kept us in this for a good stretch of the 4th. Niang has his limitations but his floater game is surprisingly effective, he is always hustling, and his 3 has been falling of late. I like both of them a lot.

I am not on the we have to ship out Mitchell train, but i am more amenable to it now. I think we really need to get someone without a smooth brain in as coach first to see what we can really do here then explore Mitchell for Mikal.

Individual stats:

Starters:
Strus 20-11-5 with a block in 37 minutes. Star of the game! Or JYD?
Mobley 12-14-1 with 2 blocks in 38 minutes. Solid defense. Loved his play on Scottie Barnes on a fast break, knocking the ball off him and out of bounds.
Allen 18-4-3 with 2 blocks in 27 minutes. Had 4 fouls and sat the 3rd quarter. 9-10 fg
Mitchell 10-5-4 with a steal in 34 minutes. Off night shooting, but some quality defense and key rebounds and 2 key free throws.
Garland 24-2-8 in 41 minutes 10-16 fg, 3-6 from 3.

Bench 21-13-8 in 23 minutes Bench was productive in its short time.
LaVert 7-3-1 in 22 minutes Off night shooting, but good D on Barnes
Niang 8-6-3 with a steal in 23 minutes Good defense on the bigs and good rebounding.
Okoro 2-0-0 in 10 minutes
Thompson 4-4-4 in 7 1/2 minutes, +7 All his rebounds were offensive. I think they all led to baskets.

Well, it's a shitty fucking game thread then.

The good:

-Garland being Garland

-Mobley is now a full week into looking confident from 12-15 feet. That’s massive.

-Strus is phenomenal. Niang is a nice bench piece

-I thought Mitchell actually fit in with the starters tonight. Game was off, but he had 17 FGAs which I was surprised

-Allen looks much more like his 21-22 self. The bounce is back. He always appeared to be laboring last season.

The bad:
-No CPJ, which meant more no point guard lineups. Mitchell/LeVert didn’t work. Mitchell/Okoro is the worst possible choice. JB has GOT to see that his team needs a true point guard on the floor at all times.

-LeVert’s 3 point shot has regressed to the mean this season. With CPJ’s emergence as a rotational piece and Okoro looking like he can impact the game when on the floor with the right people around him, Caris is back to looking like the odd man out to me. Ben told us they signed him to trade him. I hope that proves to be true. I’d rather have his minutes split between Porter and Okoro and I think it would be wonderous for everyone’s production.

-Late game execution was still spotty. The Allen alley-pop was pure luck. Garland got to the rim for a good finish without turning it over finally, however, and the short roll into big-big lob worked great.

Overall I think this is the swingy team we’ll get all season. They won’t win 50 this year, but they’ll win games and lose games that both surprise you. I still think the starting 5 is magical in spurts, like the first quarter tonight. We’ve yet to see that group look great on both ends simultaneously, and we’ve yet to see the Cavs play 4 really strong quarters in the same game imo.
Why do you think they will win fewer games than last year, with an improved roster? Injuries? Other teams getting MORE better?

@bushwick_bill is the Mayor of Sesame Street.

In the last week he has saved a baby that fell in the street and a dog that was run over by a car.

He has the receipts.
This has been an absolutely off-the-wall week, and you have been able to be there for all the stories in real time.

“I think we really need to get someone without a smooth brain in as coach first to see what we can really do here then explore Mitchell for Mikal.”

Isn’t that almost impossible, since JBB almost certainly won’t be canned in-season, and Mitchell has to get traded this offseason, if we want to get anything for him?

Real Cavs Fans are the ones who aren't just jizzing rainbows because we won. A real fan is one who can criticize the team for things even when we win and credit the team for things even when we lose. But we've also seen the same thing from the same coaching staff and players for a while now, so it's much easier to have toxic and less specific moment to moment criticism. I'm not going to sit here and outline every issue with JBB. I've done that for two seasons and a bit at this point. If I want to call the cunt a cunt, I'm going to do it.
