2023-24 Season | Game #33 | Cavs @ Raptors | Jan. 1, 2024 | 7:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Terrible situational awareness by JB at the end of the game, but that's surprising to nobody. You can't be playing for the quick 2 that low in the clock and with only 1 TO left. Really, really bad stuff.

You traded for Mitchell to win you these type of games and he really has not come through often enough in these spots. Takes a bad 3 on a critical possession. An unnecessarily difficult jumper has pretty much become his MO in those spots. He's a talented player, but the longer he is here, the more clear it becomes that he really isn't elevating you. I'm very curious what the market is for him because getting a couple of valuable role players and some picks is probably better for this team than keeping him around.

Only an idiot would not realize that they were not going to let us get off a three without fouling unless you did a catch and shoot. Also, Merrill should have been in for the final couple minutes. Unbelievably terrible coaching by JB

Is JBB that dumb or are we all missing something. I don’t understand how you remove Merrill when it was so easy to see that he was pulling 1-2 defenders with him all the time.

I’m not stating that Mitchell is the problem but the Cavs go 5-1 without him and are 0-2 since his return. His stats have been great across the board but the ball movement hasn’t been nearly as good , nor JBB’s rotations . I’m 100% convinced that a different coach could do more with our personnel .

The funny thing is that when JBB’s back was to the wall without Mitchell, Garland and Mobley, he did much better managing the game and the personnel.

I only watched the last 8 minutes of the game and now see that Merrill was doing things to help the comeback. That’s great. Not great that he didn’t see the floor down the stretch.

Also, I see CPJ was -11 in 6 minutes. Was it really that bad for him or just a hot Toronto run when he was in?

CPJ always starts with a negative, but he gets better the more minutes he plays, especially in the second half. Tonight JBB wouldn't let him.

I’m a huge fan of CPJ and want him to
Play so much more and seeing 6 minutes tonight when we’d been down big and clawed back, made me wonder what happened

Well that was frustrating. Merrill earned more 4th quarter minutes over Okoro. Get the flamethrower more minutes. The 3 is key!

This team is so very weird. It is just chock full of talent that I individually like watching play. But man, oh, man does it just stagnate the better talent we have on the floor. Especially when any combo of DM, DG, and Levert out on the court together.

Individually, I like all three. I've been critical of the Mitchell trade, but don't deny the talent. I just don't see how we reconcile this, or at least I don't see it without a coaching change. Dribbling the air out of the ball and hucking fall away 3s as the buzzer goes off is not winning basketball.

Didn’t see this game. Whose fault was the loss and why?

This board being the board going to assume JBB lol

LeVert the backup PG now. So he's essentially placing the blame for the poor 2nd quarter showing on CPJ by benching him. Not Niang, who is still playing. Not Merrill. Not Tristan. Just CPJ.

@MirORich STill encouraged by JBB letting him close the game the other night?
Nope, as clearly it didn’t result in a more defined , gtd both half shift tonight’ thus last game was more anecdotal and not the beginning of a trend,

Didnt catch a second of tonights game(New Years Day party with my brother‘s wife’s Japanese half of her family) so I can’t comment on anything about who played, when they played, and what went on other then say it is discouraging that CPJ didn’t receive a second half shift tonight.

It's just more enjoyable basketball to watch, even in losses, when Porter plays big minutes and we don't have to watch Mitchell and LeVert trade who brings the ball up the court.

I, personally, have more fun watching the games. Even if the ceiling is lower.

I dunno about you guys or how you feel, but enjoying what I'm watching is important to me. I don't like watching LeVert and Mitchell dribble the air out of the ball only to hoist a step back 3. Even when they're making them, I don't like watching it.

When talking player gravity, Merrill is a Jupiter, a quick release flamethrower that the defense is constantly aware of.

Would you get rid of both Mitchell and LeVert or trade one and keep the other for those stretches when open shots aren’t falling and a guy who go get a bucket can make a difference?
