Tracy McGrady

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
honestly he will most likely go to new york. they are prob the only team with contracts awful enough to match mcgrady's. and they also are interested.

NY trades away two big contracts to get an expiring McGrady which opens up cap room for them to sign two max contracts next season...Welcome to New York LeBron and Wade/Bosh...

until new york gets a coach that is defensively minded they wont lure the guys who really want to win a championship. just my opinion. but every sport has proved that defense wins championships. the knicks and D'Antoni dont run any defense.

Daryl Morey isn't retarded.

The Knicks could probably get T-Mac tomorrow for Cuttino Mobley+Al Harrington(both expirings).

Walsh wants to dump Jeffries or Curry, and Morey isn't going to take either of them.

In one of the articles it said they were willing to take on longer contracts just to get rid of him. The Knicks just see McGrady as an oppurtunity to save alot of money and sell alot of tickets for the present. There is no point for the Knicks to trade for him if they can't get the Rockets to take at least one bad contract. We will see how desperate the Rockets(or Knicks) are.

Longer contracts, sure...but Curry and Jeffries are on a whole different level.

Houston doesn't have to get rid of McGrady. There's no desperation.

Curry/Jeffries will not be moved without Gallinari or Chandler going out as incentive.(might take both of them)

The point of the Knicks to trade for him is simple...if he comes in, gets minutes, and starts putting up 25PPG, they retain his bird-rights and maybe even have a shot at an 8th seed.

I could see an expirings swap, but I don't know. Donnie Walsh is revered for doing a whole lot of nothing. I don't concede his competence, personally. I think he might kinda suck at his job.

Yeah, talent with longer contracts. Not simply longer contracts for the sake of having them.

They're not going to just dump McGrady and take on more players that aren't going to play for them. They can achieve that by just telling Tracy to go work out on his own in Chicago.

So yeah, they'll take on salary if it's someone they want. Nobody, especially Morey, is a big enough idiot to send out a $20 million useless contract to get a $40 million useless contract in return.

edit: IBWT, dangit. Same thought...

I don't see T-Mac getting moved, no one really wants an injury proned SG. And he is probably terrible slow and humbled after going down year after yeaer after year. Wherever he goes the team must have a great health insurance package.

The Rockets would be far better off letting Mcgrady expire than taking Curry and Jeffries they would at least have some cap space to go after an FA or work a S/T with Mcgrady's birds rights.

I was under the impression that they just really really want to get rid of him, and the sooner the better. They don't want the distraction. If I was NY and with Nates recent complaints, would ship Nate Rob, Mobley, and a bad contract for T Mac. The problem with that is the Rockets running a midget circus.:chuckles: They already have enough players under 6 foot. Brooks and Lowry(by the looks of it).

Why would Houston want to take back a bad contract in exchange for a huge expiring like McGrady?

A 34 year old SG and an undersized PG who can't start on a bad, run-first team.....doesn't really drive a convincing bargain for why they should take a contract like Jared Jeffries on for two years?

It doesn't make any sense but the only trading suitor I have heard for T Mac is the Knicks and the Knicks want to get rid of cap and who knows what the Rockets will do.

The Rockets do not want distractions so bring in Nate. Ming may be back next year to give them size and if he is not the Rockets are big players in F/A with 26 to 32 mill in cap space.

Larry Hughes+Eddy Curry for him was a rumor. I don't know there contract situations.
