Not to say any of those guys shouldn't be thrown in the package, but geez do u think we could through in any more guards lol

Well unless you want to throw in AV or JJ that's the only way to send out enough $$ to make it work. I doubt they do that, but if they really just want his contract gone then we should at least propose it.

I'm going to go jump head-first off of a cliff the next time someone harps on the absolute dire necessity of a "true second option"...

Most over-rated term in basketball...

Yes, yes, yes. Bill Simmons spent what, 800 pages writing about the secret of basketball which has to do with maximizing players' potentials by creating chemistry. Part of that chemistry has to do with players understanding their pecking order and able to subjugate their egos for the greater good. Yes, a socialistic structure in one of the most materialistic arenas found anywhere on earth.

Had we won last year, do you think people would right now still be harping about us needing a "true second option" or not putting enough around Lebron? From my vantage point, our coach couldn't make the adjustments necessary to maximize the potential of the players we had placed around LBJ. We got out-coached in 2009 against Orlando and out-coached again in 2010 playoffs. If Chicago had anything more than Rose-Noah in that series, they would've taken us to 7 games. And it's not because we didn't have the team around LBJ, it's because the injuries and trade shook the rigidity with which MB coached this team. He could not get a feel for the game and how to adjust accordingly and that doomed us.**

I could go on and on, but I just wish we'd be having more intelligent discussions in the media than the myths perpetuated mostly by ESPN (read: NYers).

** I have a whole conspiracy theory about the MB-Ferry-Gilbert connection. I think Gilbert wanted MB gone a couple years ago, definitely after we got bounced by Orlando. But Ferry is conservative, and loyal, and stubborn - and Gilbert really wanted to be hands-off, was trying his hardest to allow the FO to do their jobs and not meddle too much in basketball operations, so he consented. This off-season, it came to a head again and Gilbert, realizing the stakes this time around (not just LBJ, but the casinos passing last fall), said screw this, enough, I'm doing what I think is right, and gave it frankly to Ferry who said, alright, that's cool, but I'm gone then, I ain't nobody's puppet.

Hell, give me an absolute lock down defender before a second option in my opinion. The fact that McHale and Pippen were world class defenders is what made them so valuable to their teams, not that they were really capable of carrying the load on any given night (though I guess McHale was more equipped to do this than Pippen was). This is why I still wanna go after Iggy. Not to mention a Lebron-Iggy-JJ fastbreak will never leave you unsatisfied.

I'm starting to hop on this Iggy wagon now with Byron Scott talking show-time. Good lord a Mo Williams, Hickson, Iggy, LeBron, Varejao line-up could run all night.

You gotta give them some sort of talent back. Damn. If you want AJ, then you have to give up Hickson

Problem is they dont need anymore front court guys. I think it would have to be a three team somehow with hickson going to the other team

Oh yea I understand. Wasn't knocking your trade, just what I would would think if i was their Gm..... Oh wait its David Kahn.

**applauds**

Jordan's "second option" averaged 17 points per game for a couple of those rings. The "2nd option" is not as big a deal as the media makes it out to be.

Thanks.

That's too bad. I think he could be a good fit for us, with his size and length.

We cannot have Jefferson and Haywood and be an up-tempo team. One slow player is ok, but two slows things considerably.

I'm not going to say we didn't get out-coached, but if we had a true second option he would have demanded the ball more often against peg-leg KG and went around him for baskets. And if we did have him do that, and play like a second option, we wouldn't have gotten bounced.

There's a huge difference between a second option and a second option that isn't afraid of the moment. See: Mo Williams 2009 ECF.

I would LOVE to get Iggy on the team.

That guy is a beast. I live near Philly and get to watch a lot of the Sixers games. He is a tough, hard-nosed SOB with sick athletic skills. He would be a great asset.

Can we use Shaq in a three team trade? Not sure on all of the restrictions of sign and trades

You would have to do two separate trades. You can't do a three way trade involving a sign-n-trade.

You realize this is David Kahn we're talking about, right?
Yes. But if Jefferson was available for expirings, I'm almost positive Dallas would jump in and offer Dampier, who is much better than our expirings. Dallas needs help up front bad, and getting a guy like Jefferson for free (essentially) would be huge. A Dirk/Jefferson/Haywood trio in the front court would be one of the best in the league.

So even IF he was available for nothing, I think we'd be outbid.

rofl

I haven't been here long, but I've been on message boards for years and rarely have I seen a thread move as fast as this one is.
