#12 Miami at #2 Ohio State

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Normally, we have great special teams...this season (thus far) we have stunk.

Well, at least its happening now and not later in the season when it could cost us. This is a game where you would think it would've cost us but we completely out played and out classed that Miami team. We need to get it fixed before we come to our Wisconsin/Iowa/Michigan games and I am confident that Tressel will do so.

We have two easy games coming up to figure our special teams out.

Miami has the talent to have taken us down with those gaffes. OSU has a tendancy to play down to our competition as well...with Tress (being the classy guy he is) taking his foot off the gas pedal when we've got a "sizeable enough" lead.

All it takes is some late game breakdowns against inferior talent and we lose a game we should win (and that could be any game on our schedule.)

I find it funny that without those two special teams fuckups (which are part of the game) this game is an utter blowout of epic proportions. lol. That sure would have been fun to see, but alas, a 12 point victory is nothing to scoff at.

Aye...overall, I'm happy with the outcome...but two straight games of special teams issues leaves me a bit worried. Even if we storm through the regular season...there's always the BCS game to consider.

Conservative coaching doesn't impress fans, and conservative coaches are always second-guessed in hindsight. That said, look at the wins and losses. Look at the quality of wins. Look at the things the BCS polls and rankings use to gage the quality of a team.

Aside from the special teams coverage, I don't see how a fan can come away from that game disappointed.

The concern I brought up was that 4 out of 5 field goals were from less than 25 yds in distance. You need to convert half of those into TD's.

It's more the execution that anything else. Somewhere down the road tOSU is going to need to convert those types of drives (starting in the opponents 25 yd line) into more than just FG's to get a key win.

The Buckeyes are notorious slow starters. Not worried at all. They end the season playing better than they start it.

Florida, LSU, and many college football fans in general might disagree with you on that one :chuckles:

But no like you said, we usually do start slow and have a scare early on in the season and that hasn't happened yet which is good to see.

It's normal for a Buckeyes team to have early offensive or defensive lapses to start the season - special teams well that has never really been the case which is why I think so many people are freaking out about it. Tressell will get them prepared and we'll see better special teams play in the coming weeks I don't think people need to worry about it.
