Re: Andrew Bynum

Kid doesn't love the game, he loves the money. Anybody that signs this guy long term will see him in street clothes on the bench well over 50% of the games he's under contract for. He just doesn't have the passion needed for the game, it's more than obvious.

What's more than obvious is his weird body build and his childish attitude. You're exactly right about that, he's a lazy, fat stoner that wants to get paid top dollar for his potential. He was dominant while he could play, but I'm convinced that him being so topheavy, along with his bone on bone knees = No GO.....

When you are that tall, forces play on your body much different. It is clearer that this is becoming an unbelievably athletic league. Positions 1-5 are going to be filled with
players in the 6ft-6-10" range. I don't think you see many more successful seven footers. Unless you are a Tyson Chandler or Joakim Noah, you can't keep up with the pace of the game.

One thing in common between both Chandler and Noah is their ability to move their feet. With Bynum's knees being as toasted as they are from deep runs in the playoffs supporting that over sized upper-body. He can't move his feet the way Joakim and Tyson can. His best bet is to lay his weight into you, but it's not going to be a major factor in the future of the game.

Teams will simply try to outscore you. Sure, Bynum will score by virtue of the fact that he's a 7ft 1 gargantuan. The other team will beat him right back down the court with their speed and score either a 2 or 3 because of the 4-on-5 transition situation.

I think these players are going to be phased out of the game. They will all be some variation of LaMarcus Aldridge, a mobile big who can kill you with jump-shots, think about Chris Bosh's impact in the league thus far. It hasn't been as a prototypical strong bodied PF.

Any team that pays this guy is doomed. Hopefully the Cavaliers can put their greedy little paws into that slot machine and collect all those coins from everyone else' failures.

It's awesome to have an owner that goes against the grain. Will he seemingly go against the grain again letting LBJ come back to the Cavaliers? Hopefully Dan has a little Jerry Buss inside of him somewhere. He's not the prototypical NBA owner though, so it shall be interesting.

Re: Andrew Bynum

As a sixers fan as well I don't want any of my 2 favorite teams to have him on the Roster.
His knees and cartilage situation will Never improve. Best case he is a shell of himself, think Yao when he couldn't last 50 games, Tmac, Grant Hill
Worst Case he is a Yao/Brandon Roy and has to retire in the prime of his career.

Re: Andrew Bynum

Does he have expiring contact, or an ETA?

Re: Andrew Bynum

When the trade was make and Bynum had said he was going to have the same non-surgery treatment in the off season on his knees that Kobe had in the past and with Howards known back issues, I was wondering if Philly or the LAL would void the trade after each had their physicals.

But no one did. Bet Philly is getting a new Doctor to do their physicals. And somebody in the organization should be asking why they didn't void the trade.

I'll tell you who wasn't pushing to void that trade, and that would be the Orlando Magic:

Their Haul:

Nikola Vucevic, Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Christian Eyenga!, Josh McRoberts and protected first round picks from each team, and a second round pick from Denver.

They got 2 nice players and some draft picks for their headcase but non the less Superstar in Howard.

Re: Andrew Bynum

Giving Bynum more than a 1 year deal with a team option for the second would be cap space suicide. He just can't stay on the floor, not to mention he seems to have an attitude problem. This isn't a low risk high reward scenario like Oden would be, this is high risk high reward, and not the type of move a team in our position should be willing to do.

Don't forget Maurice (don't call him Mo) Harkless--who is a pretty good young player in his own right.

What baffles me is the way Bynum has milked this thing in a contract year. I know he's dogged it a bit in the past, and rumors are that he doesn't really want to play basketball, just wants to live the lifestyle. With that being the case, I'd think he'd play at least a few games this year to entice someone into giving him a max contract. I think the longer he sits out, the fewer teams will be willing to give him the guaranteed MAX deal he wants. He's either really stupid, or REALLY lazy. Either way, I've one a complete 180 on him and want no part...unless it's at a HUGE discount (like 10% of a max deal).

Re: Andrew Bynum

I'd give bynum 1 year 10 million if his knee checked out . If the cavs can't get chris paul or dwight howard to sign with us he's my next option. The guy can put up 20, and 10 while playing some of the best post defense in the league. You don't pass that up. The signing is basically riskless. the cavs wouldn't do anything with that 10 million anyway. It's no risk, high reward if dan gilbert will spend the money, which he's shown the willingness to. If bynum doesn't work out we simply don't resign him.

And if he works out, he'll go into free agency next year and sign with someone else. And frankly, if he did pull his head out of his ass and play well next year, I'd be incredibly worried that slacker Andrew would return as soon as he signed a long term deal. Then we'd have a huge, useless contract on our cap, killing our ability to compete going forward.

I'm normally not that pessimistic, but he's such a lazy douche that I don't think he's worth the risk.

Re: Andrew Bynum

I would sign for 4 yrs, last yr a team option, all years only partially guaranteed with caveats that he plays a certain number of games, and paycuts for each playoff game missed.

That said, 76ers have no choice but to sign him. With the remote possibilty of a S&T. Can't believe I was one of the people that wanted him in the summer. :thumbdown

Re: Andrew Bynum

Maybe he is just angry that they made him play a tard in Forrest Gump....wait, that was him, wasn't it?...lmao.

"I'ma be a shrimpin' boat cappin Forrest"

I'm 99% sure you can't do a contract with that many paycuts, stipulations and clauses. I'm 100000% sure Andrew Bynum wouldn't agree to it. I'm 10000000000000% sure Houston, and perhaps a few other teams, will give him a guaranteed contract for multiple years. If I had to go after Bynum, I would give him a 3yr deal with the last two being team options. I'd give him an average of $12M per. Nothing more.

Its my way of saying the Cavs shouldn't seriously consider signing him.

Re: Andrew Bynum

The big name centers are Howard, Bynum and Al Jeff. If we are going after any of those, Al Jefferson is in my mind the obvious choice. I think Pecovic is also going to do well, and he may be worth it as well.

Beyond those, I think we have to be in the mind frame of a youth component. And that is not a long list. Thabeet is a big gamble, but might thrive in our system, Haddad maybe.. I like Splitter, but he is already 28. I also like long shots Bernard James, and Robert Sacre, but Sacre is the only one at the right age and he is no AllStar. If we get a decent shot at a center in this draft, I am not sure any of those could beat out the rookie...
