I can't get over the fact that Cody Zeller went #4 over Len and Noel. I was terrified that Grant's shocker pick would be Zeller. It seems that that wasn't as unrealistic as I thought. Bobcats have been so awful and they have basically nothing to show for it. I almost feel bad for them.

Bobcats in March: "Man... Can't wait 'til we get that number one pick and draft Noel or McLemore!!!!!"

*Bobcats lose draft lottery, fall to fourth in the draft order:
"NOOOOO!!!! WE WANTED NERLENS!!! DANG IT, WE WONT EVEN GET MCLEMORE EITHER!!!"

*June comes. The first three teams in the draft pass on Noel and McLemore

*Bobcats draft Cody Zeller over them.

I am just surprised with our picks because of Gilbert and Grant preaching defense nonstop since the season ended. We hired Mike Brown and we are giving him a bunch of guys that can't defend again. I know MB helped us become a good D with those guys, but damn, it'd be nice to give the "defensive guru" some defensive players.

It's hard to really know what Kyrie, Dion, Tristan(already looking good on D), Bennett and Karasev are capable of defensively because of their age. Browns systems seem to be more about concepts and communication more than tight man to man D, so hopefully these guys get better as they grow in the system. Do we get crazy and overspend on a known defensive vet like Tony Allen, Iggy, or a big in RFA like Pek or Splitter?

No paint defender, no rim protector.

Does Grant place zero value on these aspects of the game?

We're generally undersized across the board at every position. Does this mean anything at all to Grant?

Yeah we can run one hell of an offensive minded small team out on the court.

But defensively we are going to suck bigtime especially against teams with legit centers and power forwards.

We better hope we can run and shoot them off the floor, beacuse they're going to score at will on us.

Well at least the Cavs can hang on to the fact they took the Darkest black top prospect and the whitest mid round prospect In the past two years draft... I wanna see a Bennett and Waiters VS Zeller and kasarev now!

Looking back on tonight, (after self-administering a Glenfiddich i.v. and Cohiba treatment to chase away the initial shock of the Bennett pick), I think it was a coup for the Cavaliers to get their targeted second guy in Karasev at 19 without having to give up any assets ...We are going to need them at this point to find (when I look at our current roster) the starting caliber center and small forward over the next two offseasons that we will eventually need to field a championship level team, which is the end goal of this whole rebuild process.

Point blank, Chris Grant has obviously gathered some good young talent these past three drafts, but this team HAS to procure one more superstar to add to that alongside Kyrie to get us over the hump and (let's be honest) erase the sting of Lebron. We still have the assets and cap space to do it, and the pressure is on the front office to make it happen.

Being able to add Karasev to what I see as an eventual second line of Thompson, Zeller, Ellington (who I hope we re-sign), and a capable back-up point guard to Irving is the makings of a great young bench that will offer Mike Brown a ton of versatility in his line-ups.

With the goal of the playoffs in mind this coming season, our draft lottery days will be (allegedly) a thing of the past and Grant is now hedging his bets on trades and free agency through next Summer to fill out the meat of what the rest of the starting line-up of this team will be as we push for contention. As we currently stand right now, I see Irving, Waiters, and Bennett as three of the building blocks Chris is going too hang his hat on in that unit. We'll see how it plays out. The Bennett pick was ballsy, as neither of our 2 biggest needs arguably heading into this draft were addressed.

One thing is for sure, though. Grant's vision in building this team has been as unorthodox as they have come, and yet nothing he has done to this point has caused me to really not trust what he's been doing. I'm intrigued more than anything else to see how he finishes this thing off over the next two offseasons. He absolutely needs to find that second superstar somewhere, though ...

And the playoffs are mandatory this year.

Haha I wonder if Mike Brown is pissed at Grant for the defensive mess he has given him to work with. Welcome home Mike!

I think it was Mike Brown who said himself that he'd rather have offensively capable players to teach defense than defensively capable players that need to be taught offense. Mike Brown is good at one and not the other. If there's any improvements he can make with our players, it's on the defensive side of things. Drafting all offensive players this draft combined with one of the best defensive minds in the game is not the worst idea I can think of.

I thought MB was keen on Bennett being the number one pick?

DeShaun Thomas got picked by San Antonio?

Knew I was right about him.
