Hmm..AB, SK much younger “@dmcxiii: Does Irving/Waiters/Karasev/Bennett/Varejao remind you of Bibby/Christie/Stojakovic/Webber/Divac? #Cavs”

Except Kyrie is the best player out of everybody

Webber in his prime was such a badass. Webber in college calling timeout? Thats a different story.

I get and can understand Grant's philosophy of just taking the player he likes the best regardless of anything else but the Cavs do have a bit of an odd fit now. It's almost like pieces from 5 different jigsaw puzzles that don't fit together. He has been about just collecting assets and talent but now it should move on to the next phase and assemble a team that can work well together and where all pieces balance out.

Screw it. Let's just go '82 Nuggets on everyone and win games by averaging 126.5 points/game.

Really shocked there isn't already a 10 page 2014 Draft thread yet:chuckles:

Last year the 2013 thread was already pimping Noel a few days before the 2012 draft even took place.

Seriously though, although we're expecting to make some more moves an end up in the playoffs, there is a very good chance we'll have a pick in the 11-16 range. If 2014 is as high on true top end talents as people think it is, the kind of guy we might be able to get in the early teens could be as good as the guys in the high lottery from this year.

A piece like Anthony Bennett is a great fit next to Kyrie, Dion, and Andy. The only odd piece is TT unfortunately, but he's a good asset to have either in the future as a great 6th man off the bench, or in a future trade.

Came to the conclusion that the draft process has changed and the media sources are useless for predicting the draft. Everyone has learned from Chris Grant and other GMs to keep quiet with the guy you want. If there is no clear cut number one pick then number two, I feel a lot of drafts are going to be like this one. Front offices wont leak information to the media or forums like this (you see wine and gold didn't post much about the draft) because other teams know what writers and forums to look up to get info. Its like giving away scouting and resources by leaking info. The top 4 players were the least talked about players and no real good or bad info came out about them. It was just info that everyone could clearly see for themselves, ie Victor Oladipo was raw offensively or Bennett had gain some weight. Nothing truly bad was said about these guy that they didn't already know for themselves. The game is now keep quiet and put out disinformation about players you rank lower than the ones you like to push player you want to you. We saw this with waiters last year, not a word from anyone in hopes that he would fall. Guys like Noel, Len, and McLemore were talked about in hopes to drive up their value so someone else would fall. The cavs didn't talk about Bennett because they were trying to trade down and hope he was there at the pick we got in the trade. I actually think a trade was close in the hours leading up to the draft because ESPN said Bennett is sliding because he is over weight. The cavs wanted him to drop to 5 or 9 because they were thinking about taking one of those trades. The media will have to get better at scouting for mock drafts if they want to get it right because no front offices are going to give out this info anymore. If any of these reporters were actually good at scouting talent vs just using their sources, they would be in the front office of some team making a lot more money, IE John Hollinger getting a job with Memphis.

Speaking of Webber

I was salty as shit when the Magic traded him, thought he was the perfect type of PF to play with Shaq

prime Webber was one of the best bigs in the game, 27-11-5-2-2 on 48% in his best year. 20-10-5 guy for 5/6 seasons. Too bad his body didn't hold up, never played 80 in season, played more than 70 games in a regular season 6x, only 3x did he make it to over 75 (high was 76)

Out of those seasons with 70+ games he did it back to back 2x.

Let's get one STARTED! The Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes have officially begun!

And does this mean we have to start playing Oh Canada, along with the Star-spangled Banner, before games?

How do the players we have not fit together? Kyrie is the star, Dion is the second ball handler and scorer every really good team needs and Bennett seems like the post player that can play in and out side and cause teams to have to pay attention to him in the paint. Ellington and Gee would be good pieces to keep around. Andy is a good vet to have around but he may ultimately be gone by the trade deadline. Tristan is the one who just doesn't fit in with our 3 best players unless he accepts a 6th man role or grows 3 inches. Our 3 main core guys fit perfectly with each other and getting the rest of the guys to fit, either by improving individually or trades, won't be a major issue.

Yep, I figure TT feels like he is outside in a rainstorm while everybody is partying inside. The Cavs took Bennett instead of Victor because they liked Dion better than him.

Its crazy that Kabongo and Adonis Thomas didnt get drafted. Both were projected top 10 in 2012 in preseason mock drafts. Kabongo is good friends with Thompson and I think he would be a steal as a backup.
