2013 Waiver Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

And this last one is why we don't freak out when other teams win waiver claims & we think the Indians are "doing nothing":

Trades still have to be worked out, people, and the fact that the O's claimed everyone & their mother & have yet to work out a deal for any of them, tells us that teams claim players for the #1 purpose of blocking other teams from being able to make deals.

Shapiro and Dopelan just don't want to open the checkbook, they must be happy with what they see on the field.

Seriously? Is it possible that at the deadline teams wanted too much for certain players? The Giants were demanding Danny Salazar for Javier Lopez...you good with that deal? And, since August 1st, you do realize teams below the Indians have blocked most players that could help them correct?

I sure hope this was sarcasm and I overreacted to a joke...

I love the Shoppach move by the way. When Yan Gomes isn't in the starting lineup it will allow Francona to use Gomes as a pinch hitter without having to worry about if Santana gets hurt. It also allows the Indians to start Santana/Gomes at the same time without worrying about the same injury possibility. Shoppach himself won't have a huge impact, but his presence in an emergency allows the Tribe to put their best lineup out there every day, which, I believe, includes both Gomes and Santana.

We may see something like this a lot after September 1st:

L-CF-Bourn
S-RF-Swisher
L-2B-Kipnis
S-1B-Santana
L-LF-Brantley
R-C-Gomes
S-SS-Cabrera
L-DH-Kubel
R-3B-Aviles

I thought it sounded fair.

don't forget about rayburn. he was swinging a hot bat when francona had him in the lineup. seems like he always produced when he had the pt.

It seems as though you are unfamiliar with b00bie's antics...

I'm gonna go out on the limb & say it was sarcasm

Haven't made it on RCF much over the past few months, didn't realize that was b00bie's new name:chuckles:

My bad guys lol

That's too bad, now more than ever we need quality posters here. Hope you're able to post more often.

(Not sarcasm)

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm going to try to get on more often again, especially with basketball season approaching.

I like picking up Kubel if this means he might stick around and take Giambi's role for next season. Wouldn't even mind seeing a Raburn/Kubel/Stubbs rotation between the DH and OF. If Kubel can find his bat again, of course.

I don't expect that to happen.

Reports are that the Indians view him as a depth option cause he's better than what we have available in AAA.

The D-Backs are paying the majority of his salary for this season & he has an option for $7.5 M next season that definitely won't be picked up. In fact, I think I read somewhere that the D-Backs essentially threw in cash to pay for his $1 M buyout for next season.

Of course, they could always re-sign him depending on how he produces, but based on what he's done thus far this season, I wouldn't expect it right now.
