2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Westbrook with another triple double. Dude is possessed. He will be averaging a triple double after this performance (18 rebounds).

My question is... how many of his rebounds are because everyone else clears the area and he just basically circles in to grab the board? I remember Rondo used to get a bunch of rebounds this way. Not that it makes the triple double average less impressive, but is he grabbing 18 boards among the trees?

He's 28 now... how much longer can he go at this pace? Surely when he's 31-32 he's not going to have the same athleticism and motor.

I hope the hawks warriors game is interesting

How about the other 17 rebounds he got?

I know he's capable of getting in there with bigs and leaping for boards, but is he doing that 2-3 times a game, or 18?

Maybe my thought process on rebounding PGs is skewed due to how Rondo would rack up rebounds simply because everyone else was already running down the floor.

Kentucky standouts DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall discuss rejoining forces

Former Kentucky teammates DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall told reporters Monday that they have discussed playing together in the NBA as well, although both players want the other to go to their current teams.

"We talk about it all the time," Wall said of playing in the NBA with Cousins, according to The Washington Post.

The storyline came up because Cousins' Kings played Wall's Wizards in Washington on Monday. The Wizards defeated the Kings 101-95 in overtime.

Before the game, Cousins, when asked if the two players have discussed an NBA reunion, said: "It's come up."

Eric Bledsoe in the discussion, but said if it happens, he wants Bledsoe, currently with the Phoenix Suns, and Wall to be with him in Sacramento.

"They're going to all come to Sac. Come to Sac! ... [Wall] wants me [in D.C.]," Cousins said. "Eric want us in Phoenix ... Play with John and Eric again, you never know what will happen. It's the NBA, so hopefully one day he'll be in a Sacramento uniform."

Wall, Cousins and Bledsoe played together at Kentucky for one season (2009-10) before leaving for the NBA draft, where all three players were first-round selections.

Wall, like Cousins, would like his former teammate to join him in Washington if a reunion is workable in the future.

"Just trying to figure out what's going to happen, you know what I mean?" Wall said, according to the Post. "[Cousins] loves where he's at and I love where I'm at, so whatever we feel like gives us the best opportunity to win -- I know what our [team] is here and what I want to do here. And it's something I keep in my mind."

If the players are to be teammates in the NBA, it will have to wait until the end of next season, unless a trade happens. Cousins is under contract with the Kings through the 2017-18 season. Both Wall and Bledsoe are under contract with their teams through 2018-19.

He picks up a lot of uncontested boards

There are a lot more long rebounds the bigs miss these days from 3 point shots, so he gets a large number of those.

He is like a typical created 2k player, just fishing for boards and trying to calculate the trajectory of where the ball is going.
He has the same stats aswell but I shoot it a little bit better.

Any idea where to find updated numbers on uncontested rebounds? I can only find stuff from the middle of last year where his uncontested % was about the same as LeBron's (65%).

77.3% of his rebounds are uncontested and 22.7% are contested.

Ok, the site I was looking at may track them differently because that's a fairly significant difference from last year. For comparison's sake, LeBron (another triple double machine) clocks in with 76.1% of his rebounds being uncontested. Seems to be about par for the course for high rebounding perimeter players.

It was on front page of reddit NBA yesterday.. thread was about whiteside picking up a ridiculous amount of contested boards and within the thread they analyzed wb

Wow. According to NBA.com's tracking numbers, only 51% of Whiteside's rebounds are uncontested. Even our big boarders like Tristan and Love are in the upper 60's.

Yeah, for a perimeter player that is an elite rebounder that number is about what one should expect. Anyone expecting a guy who is 6'3 and plays primarily on the perimeter to rebound the same amount as a 6'10 guy who plays in the post is fooling themselves. For example, Whiteside, TT, and Love are elite rebounders for their positions, and Westbrook is one for his, one's numbers do not disprove the other.

Iirc he gets 3.5 a game and tt sits at 1.5.

He is two tiers removed from the next best. I believe he's competing with players at 2/game. He's an absolute beast
