2016-2017 Indians Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
wait, 17.2 million for one year?

If so thanks but no thanks

That's just the QO, and we're almost definitely going to offer it. It would be silly not to. Hopefully we can work out a 2 year deal with a lower AAV though.

Coco's dagger HR in Boston, much needed HR in Toronto, and the GW hit in game 3 will never be forgotten and he probably deserves more, but we know the situation here. He was brought in because of injury/suspension.

I'll never forget Coco's run, he'll be invited to the stadium 20 years from now and be recognized. Hopefully no Cubs fans will be there.

Any ideas on some realistic FA possibilities??

Let's say Napoli/Davis return and Zimmer pushes his way on to the roster by midseason.

Vs RH

DH-Santana
2B-Kipnis
SS-Lindor
LF-Brantley
1B-Napoli
3B-Ramirez
RF-Chisenhall
C-Gomes
CF-Zimmer

Vs LH

CF-Davis
2B-Kipnis
SS-Lindor
LF-Brantley
DH-Santana
1B-Napoli
3B-Ramirez
RF-Guyer
C-Gomes

Definitely strengthens the argument to invest more on locking up core players long-term.

That’s the QO and it’s a pre-set amount. The good thing is if Nap declines it and he moves on, we get a comp draft pick in return.

The bad news is we pay him 17.2 mil. I'd rather pay 17.2 mil to someone who actually won't disappear in the playoffs.

In other news, does anyone feel a huge need for the Indians is actually a utility infielder that can hit? Like, can We get someone who can give Frankie, Kip, and Jose a day off where we don't pencil 3-4 outs?

Who rates better defensively in CF - Naquin, Zimmer, or Greg Allen?
What order?

Who rates better in RF between the 3? Where would Lonnie fall in that group?

I think they'll trade Lonnie for relief help. Naquin will take over RF, save money with Naquin.
I think they move on from Napoli and sign back Davis and keep Almonte because of Brantley's injury.

VS RH

Santana 1st
Kipnis 2nd
Lindor SS
Brantley DH/LF
Jose 3rd
Naquin RF
Almonte LF/CF
Zimmer/FA CF/DH
C Perez

Davis CF
Kipnis 2nd

Bench Gomes, Diaz

Allen, Naquin, Zimmer.

Zimmer will be a killer corner OFer. Allen may as well but hes a natural CFer. Lonnie is a pure platoon player at this point. His defense also really is not very good by many metrics.

I can't say that's not realistic, but that would be an underwhelming off-season to put it lightly.

I'm in the camp that thinks they will be involved in a lot of trade talks for a power bat. Getting your hopes up for one of the top hitters in baseball is fun, but much more likely is a guy coming off a down year who has had decent success in the past.

Napoli, Edwin, Trumbo

Who would you rather spend 17.2 mil on?

Edwin and Trumbo are likely getting multiple years, so it's really not a great comp.

Allen is an easy 1

Zimmer 2, Naquin 3.

Chisenhall and Zimmer is probably a push scenario in right. Though I'm more bullish on Lonnie's D than most, mainly because of an elite arm.

Are we projecting Allen making the team as a starter? I thought he was still a little far off?
