2016 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So, today is the first day we may see Michael Brantley back with the club and in the lineup. Just a reminder that everyone had the Indians pegged as one of, if not the worst OF in baseball in his absence (and some said that even with him playing the Indians might have the worst OF in baseball).

In his absence, the OF has:

Accumulated 1.1 WAR (good for 12th in the entire MLB)
Put up a wRC+ of 99 (100 is league average, Indians rank 18th in the entire MLB)
And have rated out as the 4th best defensive OF in baseball to this point

As I said in the game thread, Davis, Byrd, Naquin, and Ramirez deserve a lot of credit, not only for bridging the gap to Brantley coming back, but for the Indians being a better team at this point in the season with no Brantley than our team was last year at this point with Brantley.

Really allows them to balance the lineup in a platoon scenario the rest of the way, while still giving Brantley days as a DH to keep him healthier and well rested.

Davis/Naquin in center, Chisenhall/Byrd in right field.

Easy.

It's a good problem to have, but this does lessen the chances of Ramirez seeing time out there. Maybe that eats into the time of Uribe? We'll see how they play it out.

Kipnis has an 11 wRC+ and 40% K% vs LHP this year. I know JRam is better vs RHP, but giving Kip some days off and letting Jram take time at 2B vs LHP might make sense.

I don't even know who is making the next thread. Simon? Stark?

Pretty well beyond the usual time of posting of the lineup.

Isn't out yet, so maybe waiting on a few things?

Strain is the optimal word there, doesn't look like they've seen tearing that is too significant.

4-6 is certainly better than expected, considering the amount of pain it looked like he was in.

Blessing in disguise for me and you is this makes Clevinger next in line...

Was wondering about that today. If and when they need to replace Cody Anderson in the rotation (feels like a regression was inevitable for someone like him who just cannot miss bats), is Clevinger the most likely candidate? I see that House is getting lit up by AAA bats.

Bauer is going to stay in the pen?

No, he's sliding into the rotation to take Cookie's spot...he'll be in the pen the next few weeks with the off days and not needing a 5th starter for a few weeks, but it's pretty much a given he's the one who takes the empty slot.

Remark on Clevinger is more to do with another injury to a starter or Anderson continuing to struggle with his command and he's the next man up.

About to start kicking people off the series thread team...
