It's looking like the Indians are going to be a contender, which may mean they'll look at potential additions before the trade deadline.

The most pressing need for the team in my eyes is another late inning bullpen arm. The good news here is that there are plenty expected to be available. Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller, Arodys Vizcaino, Fernando Rodney, Jeremy Jeffress, Jeanmar Gomez, Joe Smith, Drew Storen, Sean Doolittle and Will Smith are some of the many names that could be out there.

Of course, the Indians will also almost certainly be tied to some bats as well, especially if Michael Brantley's health continues to be a huge question mark. Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Jonathan Lucroy, Martin Prado, Carlos Gomez, Carlos Beltran, Jay Bruce, and Josh Reddick are some of the bigger names out there. Maybe our old friend Mark Shapiro will send us one of his two big hitters :)

I agree that improving our bullpen should be our number 1 priority.

Let's assume that Jose moves to third when Brantley comes back. I kinda think I'm happy with Brantley, Naquin, Chisenhall with Rajai rotating through. However, if you can pick up big name bat without giving up a top prospect, you have to do it. I wonder what teams would be interested in a trade focused around Lonnie (young, wrap him up long term) for a power bat rental?

Carl Crawford DFA'ed by Dodgers.

Wouldn't be a bad short-term pick-up.

He's no better than Naquin at this point in his career

But anyway, I'd like to see them upgrade at 3rd or in CF.

Definitely wouldn't mind getting a good lefty for the pen.

I think he's all but washed up. But maybe a change of scenery could help. Might be a bit too much though.

Hence "short-term pick-up" until we find a better option at the deadline. I'm not suggesting we sign him to a 5 year $120 million deal.

Crawford is the opposite of a fit.

I'm not high on Crawford, I was like 5 years ago, but I think a call up of Frazier or Zimmer would be more production than what Carl would provide. So I wouldn't bother.

Just get a arm for sure, and see what bats become available. Say if a Ryan Braun is on the market and Milwaukee pays a good amount of his contract and deals him to us... I'd consider, but I'm not willing to off Zimmer, Frazier, Bradley...

I'm hopeful of a dynasty brewing with these kids we have, including the core... I guess the play of Lindor has me excited of whats to come regarding our talent.

Tough to see a Braun deal that doesn't include Frazier, Zimmer or Bradley. Likely two of those three, if the Brewers would be picking up a chunk of salary.

If Braun wasn't 32 and declining in power I would entertain the idea of dealing Frazier maybe because of Naquin's productivity and what could be more of.

Braun can easily be damaged goods at this point. He's a player I would enjoy the Indians having for October most certainly.

I got some names I think will be looked to move from teams who aren't going anywhere this year...I'll lay them out when I get home in like an hour.

They were burned so bad on declining sluggers last time it's hard to justify that risk again.

Paying deep into Braun's 30s is so likely to blow up badly.

I'm assuming you are not for blowing up the future, or even trading one piece for a rental/risk. I can't complain if they don't, I actually want them to protect what we are instored for.

I think we're just better off getting Brantley back, and playing the waiver game later on. Napoli hitting like he has been helped me believe this.

If you'd told me that we'll reach first place twice and maintain it without Brantley, I'd say some shit to you that'll I'd be regretting right now lol.
