Hell no...with what the Reds asked for Frazier from us, I don't even want to think what they ask us for Bruce...

I still like Josh Reddick as a fit on this team, and he would cost a fraction of what Cincy asks for Bruce...

Yeah, Bruce is a dumb pipe-dream I have. He's pretty poor in the outfield from what I've gathered as well, so he probably wouldn't fit Brantley's void very well.

Reddick would be nice, but he did just break his thumb and probably won't be back until late-June/early-July.

Which is most likely when we start to talk trade...as some of our reporters have already mentioned today, the Indians front office is entirely focused on the draft right now, and will be until probably 2-3 weeks from now (the draft itself, and signing draftees).

Puts Reddick in play right when we change our focus back to MLB transactions. It's also why I mentioned him being a fraction of a cost compared to Bruce...a free agent after the season coming off of the DL won't command the prospects that a name like Jay Bruce will (I think San Fran tries to move for Bruce after the Pence injury).

I mean...he's already missed "significant time"...I think they are slow-playing it with him to make sure he is as healthy as he can possibly be this year. I kind of hope they wait til right after the All-Star break to bring him back.

If true that's awful.

If true that's awful.

That's a gross exaggeration...

But literally every MLB front office is focused on the draft right now...not just the Indians...doesn't mean they aren't paying attention to MLB level scouting and transactions...just the level of focus there isn't as high as it normally is, for anyone...

The Indians, like most every other team, have MLB Advance scouts working and reporting on whatever targets they may have out there on the trade market in addition to their duties of scouting future opponents.

Secondly, the amateur scouting networks generally would have most of their work on 2016 completed at this stage and would be out there getting eyes on 2017+. At this stage, their role in 2016 would be to hash out bonus concerns/demands and figuring out which players will fit in where in their strategy.

The two departments should be running independently of one another without focus shifting one way or the other.

Which is what I was saying...Huber seemed to think I meant everyone related to the Indians was focused on the draft, and nothing else...

I'm saying the decision makers are focused on the draft (Antonetti, Chernoff, etc.), but that will only last a relatively short period of time...but that doesn't mean they are completely neglecting the MLB level or info their scouts relay to them...just that they won't engage in trade talks right now with so much on their plate...

Just, a trade at this point, or in the next week or 2, is unlikely, because everyone is in this mode right now...not just the Indians...

James Shields got through the first two innings in 79 pitches.

Remember when the White Sox were 23-10, and people were worried about how we could catch them?

They keep wondering who they need to acquire, then they keep batting Jimmy Rollins at the top of the order.

Smrt Baseball

3.5 games back. What bums.

Don't remember calling them bums. Merely commenting on early season overreactions.

However, winning just 7 of their last 27 games does make them look like bums.
