I don't get Beltran. He's strictly a DH at this point, a position the Indians don't have available.
Valencia I understand, to some extent. He's just got to be better defensively. He's already at -13 DRS this season, that's less than good.
Fixed that for ya. A healthy Perez and yes Chris Fucking Gimenez are fine backup Cs.Wouldn't mind a good hitting catcher replace Yan
At this point, I'd only like Valencia as a DH on this team as well, just like Beltran...with what the Santana/Napoli combo is doing at DH/1B, that takes him off the table for me, as well as Matt Kemp, who I view as a similar player who can't see the field defensively...so much of our team is about defense and pitching...adding in a guy who makes the defense a lot worse while making the offense a little better isn't a positive move to me right now.
Reliever or an outfielder...reliever or an outfielder...
Finding a late inning bullpen upgrade or an upgrade to Michael Martinez are 1a and 1b to me right now.
Also curious about this. He's locked up until 2018 so I would imagine he will fetch some good prospects, but I could see the Yankees foolishly thinking they will make the playoffs.I know I'll probably vomit when I hear it, but I do wonder what the price tag is on Andrew Miller

The genesis of my acceptance of Valencia is the fact that his defense is a MAJOR outlier from what he's done in the past.
Vastly higher rate of errors, DRS, UZR. It all seems like one big outlier, I haven't seen him play much this year but I'd be willing to take a chance on that being an anomaly.
Still don't give up any of the major prospects for him, but he's an acceptable addition who can be an everyday guy at 3B.
$9M per year for a guy who pitches about 50-60 innings.
Prospects aside, the Indians aren't likely to invest in that.
That said, Miller is having a ridiculous year.
