2016 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So do we still need a bat too or is getting a reliever option a and b?

Priority 1 is a reliever, priority 1A is a bat. Our offensive production to this point is no reason to be averse to depth, IMO. Another injury could put us on shaky ground.

Danny Valencia would be a great get for the right price. We all know about the Beltran talk.

Wouldn't mind a good hitting catcher to platoon with Yan

I don't get Beltran. He's strictly a DH at this point, a position the Indians don't have available.

Valencia I understand, to some extent. He's just got to be better defensively. He's already at -13 DRS this season, that's less than good.

I know I'll probably vomit when I hear it, but I do wonder what the price tag is on Andrew Miller

At this point, I'd only like Valencia as a DH on this team as well, just like Beltran...with what the Santana/Napoli combo is doing at DH/1B, that takes him off the table for me, as well as Matt Kemp, who I view as a similar player who can't see the field defensively...so much of our team is about defense and pitching...adding in a guy who makes the defense a lot worse while making the offense a little better isn't a positive move to me right now.

Reliever or an outfielder...reliever or an outfielder...

Finding a late inning bullpen upgrade or an upgrade to Michael Martinez are 1a and 1b to me right now.

Why is everyone disavowing Almonte? so he got caught juicing, so what. If I grew up in the DR I would have juiced too if it meant lifting out of poverty. He was hitting before and he has been hitting well since coming back. He served his time, he fills a void o this team as a switch hitting bench OFer who is a capable defender- team needs to forgive and move on. His suspension was a blessing, it opened up a spot for Naquin and made them sign Byrd who was a good signing until the suspension. Team needs to give him some fun before deal in for a Valencia- who was a cast off himself not too long ago. They need to give Almonte another go to try and fill the void.

The genesis of my acceptance of Valencia is the fact that his defense is a MAJOR outlier from what he's done in the past.

Vastly higher rate of errors, DRS, UZR. It all seems like one big outlier, I haven't seen him play much this year but I'd be willing to take a chance on that being an anomaly.

Still don't give up any of the major prospects for him, but he's an acceptable addition who can be an everyday guy at 3B.

Also curious about this. He's locked up until 2018 so I would imagine he will fetch some good prospects, but I could see the Yankees foolishly thinking they will make the playoffs.

We need a left handed reliever, and he's the best in the business. I'm not willing to give up top prospects, but hopefully eating his salary along with a couple middling prospects would be enough.

Realistically, they probably want Frazier and Sheffield. :vio (3):

$9M per year for a guy who pitches about 50-60 innings.

Prospects aside, the Indians aren't likely to invest in that.

That said, Miller is having a ridiculous year.

Meh...he has never been a good defender at 3B (hasn't had a + DRS season since his rookie year 6 years ago), and now he is getting up there in age...I think he is just aging poorly at 3B and its catching up to him...

He did however play some LF last year with Toronto and wasn't exactly terrible in his smallish sample size...a negative, but not a terrible negative that entirely over shines what he does at the plate.

Adding the bat, especially against LHP, is very intriguing...but I don't know where you'd play him right now...

If eating that cost makes us better, and it means we don't lose any top prospects, I'm ok with it.

I really feel like another arm in that pen, preferably lefty, is all we really need.
