2016 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm assuming you are not for blowing up the future, or even trading one piece for a rental/risk. I can't complain if they don't, I actually want them to protect what we are instored for.

I think we're just better off getting Brantley back, and playing the waiver game later on. Napoli hitting like he has been helped me believe this.

If you'd told me that we'll reach first place twice and maintain it without Brantley, I'd say some shit to you that'll I'd be regretting right now lol.

Not opposed to dealing anyone currently in the system for the right player.

That player isn't Ryan Braun, however. Definitely not for a rental either.

Would honestly explore a Ryan Raburn return.

Crawford is the opposite of a fit.
Is there anyone in the league that would be a fit to you? I don't think I've ever been able to suggest someone you agree with.

I suggested Raburn a few minutes ago. I don't see how Crawford even gets playing time here. Who is he better than?

I'd have Michael Martinez stay up and be versatile before I put Crawford out there.

Is anyone else ok with standing pat? One more bullpen arm I'd be happy, but if not I still think we can contend. All we have to do is make it to the playoffs and our rotation will make us dangerous

Obviously there are other options but Crawford can be signed for next to nothing. I don't see what there is to lose (though he is a lefty). If he sucks, DFA him and find a better option at the deadline.

I wouldn't mind old buddy Raybourghne. Was he DFA'ed as well?

No, he's actually still got a pulse. Crushing it for a terrible Colorado team.

The Indians have games to lose by letting Crawford play over guys who are simply better. He's like, realllly bad.

Michael Bourn bad?

Are we worried about the lack of left handed pitching on the roster?

Definitely.

Gorzelanny can be effective, but ideally you'd like to see another added. This becomes critical in any playoff scenario as well.

Fernando Abad
Will Smith
Brad Hand
Ryan Butcher
Andrew Chafin

Couple names off the top of my head they could get into. I could come up with a few more when I have some time.

I'm completely with the artist formerly known as b00bie...I am not in favor of trading any of our top prospects right now, unless a player becomes available who is too good to pass on...that's not Ryan Braun, by the way...

That being said, we still have a few young guys who are currently blocked at the MLB level and don't really have any longterm future with our team. One of those guys is Erik Gonzalez, who I think can be of some use this deadline in a trade that nets us a pretty solid player to help down the stretch.

Now...what do we need?

My first preference would be a bullpen arm. Someone who works late in games and is more reliable than McAllister, but not a major top bullpen arm or a closer or SU man. I like Shaw and Allen, but after that, I'm a little worried (Otero has been a pleasant surprise, however). Some names I wouldn't mind:

Boone Logan - LHP - Rockies
David Hernandez - RHP - Phillies
Fernando Abad - LHP - Twins
Fernando Rodriguez - RHP - Athletics
Ryan Buchter - LHP - Padres
Fernando Rodney - RHP - Padres

My next preference would be an OF who can hit LHP:

b00bie mentioned Raburn - Rockies
Jake Smolinski - Athletics
Justin Ruggiano - Rangers

And my last preference would be a 3B, but I doubt we would even think of adding a 3B at this moment.

Brantley coming back, being healthy, and remaining healthy would be like acquiring an All-Star OF, considering the amount he has played so far...so I would rather strengthen the backend of the bullpen or our OF vs LHP than try to find an every day guy at this point.

If/When Brantley is back, we are looking at a lineup like this:

vs RHP:

Santana (DH)
Kipnis (2B)
Lindor (SS)
Brantley (LF)
Napoli (1B)
Ramirez (3B)
Chisenhall (RF)
Gomes (C)
Naquin (CF)

vs LHP

Santana (DH)
Kipnis (2B)
Lindor (SS)
Brantley (LF)
Napoli (1B)
Ramirez (RF)
Gomes (C)
Uribe (3B)
Davis (CF)

Those don't look bad at all right now, but vs LHP we could use more depth...specifically in the OF (I'd love for Brantley to get a decent amount of rest after he plays a few games in a row...but we need OFs who can matchup to do that)...

I would much rather find someone to slide McAllister out of the 7th inning role than anything else at this point...a lot can still change before the deadline, however...

Crawford is the opposite of a fit.
Once upon a time, when he was in Tampa, I thought he was going to be IT. He has the minimum number of brain cells to function as a human. Not a good fit anywhere
