2016 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't agree with having 2 automatic outs in the World Series. That's if Yan Gomes is still bad.

But in reality I cannot see the Tribe trading for a catcher now. I can see Tito just sticking with what we have now and not having the pitchers learn a new catcher at this point. He's not Lucroy.

I don't think it's optimal, but there's nothing that says Perez wouldn't be in a different place by that time either. Like, back to his career average or so would be more than enough.

Got to jump on a defensive downgrade to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

AZ I respect your opinions and overall baseball knowledge, but to say an everyday player at ANY position hitting .100 isn't a problem then that's kind of insane.

Weren't you just on board with getting Suzuki a week ago? It's not like anything has changed with Perez in a week. He still sucks.

The reason it's not a problem is because our offense has been awesome.

No reason to make a minuscule improvement to the offense at the expense of our defense.

I mean if it happens, it happens. I said he was the only one on a list of other non-sensical options that actually made sense.

But...

It's not a need, it's not dire.

It's certainly a downgrade defensively. It's a problem the Indians have, but one they have no suitable remedy to that wouldn't cause another problem.

The only solution to the problem, as of now, is to get Gomes back and hitting or for Perez to hit.

I mean I'm not losing sleep over Suzuki either way, but I'll always think a guy batting .100 is a problem... I don't give a shit if he's a gold glover. I just worry about the possibly of having what basically amounts to a 7 man lineup if the Indians are fortunate enough to make the WS.

As far as the trades that were made by the FO, Miller and Guyer have both excelled in exactly the way they were supposed to.

Wouldn't this be as simple as playing Suzuki against lefties (.293, .476 SLG, .794 OPS vs. Left) or against teams that don't look to run very often?

And with regard to the bold... I mean, we're getting close to September and Gomes was not only trending downward but now has a significant injury* to overcome.

Are we really expecting either of these guys to turn it around now?

*Also, I really don't think enough is being made of the fact that Gomes injured his throwing shoulder. How is this going to impact his defense (the only capable part of his game this year)?

Reactions: AZ_
Jay Bruce's fWAR has dropped to 0.1 on the season after his recent struggles in New York. For comparison's sake, Juan Uribe had 0.2 when we DFA'd him.

Apparently Kershaw was weeping that Ellis got traded.

I believe it.

Those two are basically brothers, and AJ is one of the best people I ever encountered while working in baseball.

That trade is so shocking to me, he's the heart of that clubhouse.

Indians are bringing back Coco Crisp
I literally thought he was 45 and out of baseball it seems so long ago when he first played for us.

How has he been this year and does he give us the same or more for the playoffs that Almonte has been(but can not) in the playoffs?
