Pau would be nice, but I have a hard time seeing him taking that big of a paycut to come to the Cavs.

To me, the realistic option that should be our #1 priority is doing anything possible to replace RJ and JJ with Jared Dudley.

Pau is on record saying he's ok with being underpaid if it means having a real chance at a Championship.

I mean, his salary with the Bulls was just over 7 million per year..

According to @col63onel

Either the full MLE or taxpayer MLE, depending on what we do with Moz and Delly.

And according to basketball insiders:

The Mid-Level Exception starts at $5.6 million, for deals up to $24.0 million over four seasons.

The Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception begins at $3.5 million, for deals up to $10.9 million over three years.

So if we offer him the full MLE, he's not making that much less than he was with the Bulls. He's also older now than he was when he signed with Chicago in 2014. I don't think it's too unreasonable to think he could sign that deal here if he truly wants to go after another Championship.

Gasol would be an awesome pickup, especially if we let Mozgov walk. I'm just not sure if Gasol cares about rings and won't just be looking for a way bigger pay day than we can provide.

ETA:

Other guys I would be interested in:

G
Bayless
Wade

F
Dudley
Teletovic
Marvin Williams

C
Gasol
Pachulia

For the record, here's what Gasol said last time he was a Free Agent, before taking a paycut to join the Bulls.

"My decision will be based purely on sporting considerations. It couldn't be any other way. I want to be in a team with a real chance of winning a ring and where I can help to compete for it. I would like to win another championship. The financial side comes second at this stage of my career."

I'm guessing his stance hasn't changed.

Gasol would be incredible. Don't know how realistic is is or if he would be happy here, but he's always had my respect as a player.

Hmmm...well that certainly changes things...but I can see another contender giving him more money than us, which still figures into the equation. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Spurs go after him.

Pau was one of my dream targets of the trade deadline. Wasn't realistic I guess, but I would love to have him on the team. Very skilled and consistent big that we could use, great passer, knows how to win, etc.

Top priority should be making sure JR and Delly come back. Who knows what contract they will demand. It could be driven up in the playoffs. I don't know what to do with Moz. If we can get him on the cheap, I'd take that but I don't know what teams will offer him.

Yeah, I thought about that too. There are contenders that could give him more money.

-Warriors (role wouldn't be as important though)
-Spurs (role wouldn't be as important, unless Duncan retires)
-Raptors (if you consider them a contender...with Gasol they might be)
-Unforeseen team that acquires better players in the offseason

I like our chances against those three teams...lets hope Duncan doesn't retire...

It'll be a test for him, that's for sure.

Most contending teams out west can offer him more money but less PT and a smaller role. We can offer him less money, but more PT and most likely a big role as a starting player...will be curious to see which route he takes, but I'll still be surprised if he takes a taxpayer MLE. David West surprised me last year, so who knows...would be a monster short term upgrade over Timo as long as his body doesn't all of sudden crumble on him.

Pau makes too much sense here to happen. That being said, I bet he closes it out in Memphis with his brother. Between Love, Thompson, & Frye, I dont see how we make him fit. I would imagine he would want more than 15-20 mpg. Even at his age.

Pau fits in Cleveland the best based on need. How many touches will he get?

Uh, I would give him all of Fye's minutes, send TT back to backup pf/c

Do you realize how good of a player Gasol is? Who cares about TT & Frye?

Gasol starts as center, plays as many minutes as his body allows, then figure it out from there rotation wise.
