2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kipnis is still a really good player when healthy. I just don't see a spot for him if Jose won't play 3B. His bat would fit in LF or RF but his arm would kill us.

Please ship this dude the fuck out of Cleveland. if they're serious about a title, he needs to go IMO.

Yeah let's trade Kipnis when his value is at an all time low. He certainly hasn't shown he produces very well when he's fully healthy before.

How long do they have until picking up Brantley's option?

If they were going to do it, why would they wait?

Dunno, they picked up Tomlin's today, although I don't think any official releases or anything have been made.

Still no decision on Logan, although he'll almost assuredly be declined too.

Surprised after hearing about the surgery.

With that said, fully trust the Indians FO to make the right decisions. If healthy, Brantley is absolutely worth that money. Let's pray he can stay healthy.

Let's try for a 3rd straight year now to hope for Brantley to stay healthy.

The good news it wasn't his shoulder causing the issues. Now he has a bum ankle- although Ive seen other athletes have that corrective surgery and be ok afterwards. Football players though.
This is a guy who can hit above average, have a very good OPS and play a solid outfield.
If healthy, a BIG if, he's an impact player. The fact they were depending on him last year is a move in the right direction. Sans the ankle he made it all the way back and was playing well.

I'd have interest in Jarrod Dyson as a platoon option. You can't use him much against LHP, but he holds his own against righties and could be used in a platoon similar to the way the club used Rajai in 2016.

I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm also wondering if it's possible the Indians-Blue Jays talk. Donaldson would be an ideal fit for the lineup and at 3B, and the Jays, looking more like a rebuilding team, might be willing to deal him.

:hsugh:

I have complete faith. It was a fluke injury, which means it cant possibly recur. The good news is they broke in Greg Allen this year, so maybe he goes to CBus with a hunger and is ready to go if, god forbid, Brantley gets hurt again.

Cleveland also will have a fair amount of room on the roster, so we will add more depth in the offseason once again. So don’t be surprised if we pick up one or two young OFs or do a reclamation project of an older guy who is coming off of injury. I will wait to ask about Rule 5 people we could select.

Posted this before, but Jason Kipnis' WAR:

2012: 3.9
2013: 5.7
2014: 0.7
2015: 4.6
2016: 4.0
2017: 0.4

For reference, Lindor had a 4.1 WAR in 2017.

He battled injuries in 2014 and 2017. If he's healthy he's damn good.
