2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
OKC has an enormously impressive peak game (I’ll wait until they play about 25 games, but its ability to win dominant quarters is reminiscent of 65-67 win type teams) and that’s why I never thought they would implode. I posted about it earlier.

Everything Cavs Thread: New Season Edition

Its bench is trash, but in the playoffs, OKC should have two of thr three on court at all times although not sure how much of a positive Melo is on many nights. But the defense is really good, and if Westbrook gets comfortable being the same lead player he’s been used to, this team can really be something.

The problem is that this team could win a title in most years, but it’s still not good enough to beat the Warriors.

Too small to what? Harden is more physically imposing than either Steph or Klay. I don't understand why they'd need a big backcourt?

too small to bother shooters, get in passing lanes. GSW can do the exact same thing HOU can do in my opinion, when they feel like it, only they do it as a team whereas HOU relies on harden, who will be too exhausted to play both ends

OKC is much better than their record. I am not convinced Golden State can beat them in a seven-game series come playoff time. That length and strength is difficult for the Warriors to deal with.

wish KD was this chippy and competitive when he was playing against GSW. easy to be a tough guy when your team doesn't need you to win

i will never understand anyone who supports this coward

Thank god Boston lost tonight. I really was struggling to even mentally deal with their winning streak. Lost a game they played really hard in to the Heat. They will 100% stumble at some point.

Kyrie was meh. Got beat pretty well defensively.

Thank you Miami, NY and Charlotte, now we need to keep playing better and beat Charlotte on Friday, gonna be a tough game with Dwight and Kemba

That's why they got Chris Paul, brother. And he's really good.

I have a few quick thoughts from the end of that game:

1. I NEVER want to hear anyone say kyrie wanted out because he couldn't be the point guard. Boston continues to use him off the ball to start every set. And they should. That's where he's best. The Cavs were right to use him that way too.

2. Kyrie getting beat backdoor by Waiters late was :chef kissing fingers emoji:

3. At the same time, it's easy to see why this year's Boston team is more dangerous than last year, and that's thanks in large part to Kyrie's ability to get you a bucket against any defense. He's fucking terrifying.

Paul George is 1st Team All Defense this year and will get some DPOTY votes.

Yep! One area I think OKC will really show improvement is on individual defense.

They've been really good so far, but Russ, Patterson, Felton, etc. are better defenders than they've shown.

EX: during Russ's last year with KD, the former was the 8th best perimeter defender by DBPM. I see zero reason he can't recreate that as he shares the offensive load with Melo and PG13.

Miami’s “A” game is actually really good, but the Heat can rarely sustain it. Contesting everything, switching, launching threes. Heat are actually tough to defeat when playing with that type of energy.
