2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the East Champion vs. West Champion is good now and I hope they don't change the format. The idea of changing the playoff format has been tossed around for awhile and again Adam Silver discussed the possibility of a change. Watching Colin Cowherd couple days ago he doesn't want the playoff system changed, and to paraphrase simply what he said, he said if LeBron stays in the East they'll keep the playoff format as is. If he goes out West, they'll change the system so the Championship contenders aren't all out West and the Finals opponent from the East ends up being a pile of dirt. And Silver is again talking about this now so that if LeBron switches conferences it doesn't seem like they are changing the system because of one player.

Things getting worse between the Spurs & Kawhi.

After spending 10 days before the All-Star break in New York consulting with a specialist to gather a second opinion on his right quad injury, All-NBA forward Kawhi Leonard bears the burden of determining when he's prepared to play again, sources told ESPN.

Leonard has been medically cleared to return from the right quad tendinopathy injury, but since shutting down a nine-game return to the San Antonio Spurs that ended Jan. 13, he has elected against returning to the active roster, sources said. If Leonard returns, it will be because he has decided he can manage the pain of the injury, according to the sources.

Away from the Spurs to pursue second opinions in New York, Leonard recently utilized the gymnasium inside the National Basketball Players Association headquarters in Manhattan for workouts, league sources told ESPN. The Spurs had team personnel accompanying Leonard in New York, sources said.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters Wednesday that he would be "surprised" if Leonard returns this season. Spurs officials are clearly starting to prepare his teammates for the possibility that they'll have to enter the playoffs without Leonard.

The hope of Leonard's return had buoyed the Spurs to believe they could still make a run in the Western Conference postseason. San Antonio is 35-24 and holding the third seed in the Western playoff chase.

The injury, rehabilitation and timetable for a return has complicated the Spurs and Leonard's relationship, causing tension and fraying the fabric of what was once a strong partnership, league sources told ESPN. The uncertainty surrounding this season -- and Leonard's future, which could include free agency in the summer of 2019 -- has inspired a palpable stress around the organization, league sources said.

Fuckkk that sucks for Jimmy.

He leads the leagues in minutes... the reason he sat out the all star game. Thibs just works his players into the ground

Posted the Butler stuff elsewhere...team doc manipulated his knee, sent for immediate *x-rays*. Somewhat fearful of ACL *and kneecap*. But nothing firm yet. Xrays were negative per Shams.

He may end up being extremely fortunate. I hope he ends up ok.

*=edits as I hear/read more

Mark Jackson tries to sound like he's an intelligent basketball mind while saying the most obvious shit.

"People forget that this dude can play!"

"People don't remember that Magic Johnson was a great passer!"

"If you're thinking about the best players in Cavaliers history, LeBron James has to be right at or near the top. This dude is a baller. Hand down, man down, mama, there goes that man."

Any ideas on how the FBI probe effects the NBA? Could this be the beginning of the end of the NCAA being the NBA's training grounds?

Boban Marjanovic might be the ugliest human being I've ever seen.
