2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hmm I wonder if in the clearly rigged lottery system the Celtics or the 76ers will get that pick

There's just no way to know for sure!!!

Cavs fans probably shouldn't talk about the lottery system being rigged :chuckle:

Somewhere @cavsfever is sick watching George and Melo in that half. :chuckle:

you got that one right! George+Melo was exactly what I thought we needed. Wade+Rose, not as much.

OKC in general really seems to have the blueprint for challenging the Warriors, as a couple of people have noted. Big strong defensive rim protector center who the Warriors can't match up with, and who can't be left alone on offense. Two good long perimeter defenders in PGIII and Roberson. A dynamic scoring guard who can defend. And Melo to hit 3s and supercharge the offense; his defense is not great but also not so horrible that you can't cover up for him easily with four other starters who are solid to plus defenders.

(I would fucking LOVE IT if OKC knocks the Warriors out of the playoffs, karmic revenge on Durant)

What's a stranger line for tonight

Phi -2.5 over Boston

or

Brk -1.5 over Orlando

If I were a gambling man that Orlando line is pretty tantalizing, I'd probably actually just hit the money line for them to win.

Lins injury just deflated Brooklyns entire season. Their defense is in shambles, and the Magic actually looked somewhat decent against the heat. They'll never be a great team, but in all their years of sucking...they've amassed a lot of talent.not high level guys, but a lot of "solid starter" types. Fournier was great in the opener, and their frontcourt is going to just feast on Brooklyn. Payton is a good defender too for them to toss on Russell.

Also---I'd keep an eye on Miami at the moment as a team that could be not very good . Dion was a big part of their success last year in the second half...and went down with a terrible ankle injury. He decided to not get surgery because he was a free agent.

Well, coming into the season there was some concern over his ankle. It wasn't 100%.

In the opener. He turned the ankle THREE times en route to a pretty bad game.

They still have Dragic and Whiteside and a bunch of wings that can defend and shoot, so they'll be fine overall, but I think all the people who think they're a 5-6 seed are going to be disappointed. I think Miami is going to be lucky to make the playoffs if Dion can't get that ankle right(he may eventually need surgery)

I hate the Magics frontcourt other than Gordon and Isaac. Isaac has ways to go, but he is going to be a sure fire star eventually and Gordon is inconsistent still, but looks improved from last season.
Vucevic however needs to be traded asap.. guy is terrible.

Brooklyn defense is better in the front court with Acy, Booker, RHJ and even Mozgov, but their defense is just abysmal in the backcourt. I expect a big game from Fournier and Simmons with Payton finishing with close to a triple double.

Vuc is the best player out of all those that you listed, IMO. Even tho in today's NBA he's not really useful. In matchups like this he usually produces.

The team who plays Trevor Booker at C for the majority of their minutes and RHJ at the 4, and gave up 140 points to a team who made all of 9 3 pointers is "better in the front court" defensively?

Did you watch the layup line Indiana had on Wednesday?

Brooklyn's defense is awful all around, will be even worse now that D'lo will be their PG, and they play too fast to have Timo on the court for enough minutes to cover their shit perimeter defense, and in their game on Wednesday, so fast that Timo couldn't even get in position before Indy was at the rim.

I forgot RHJ who's great defensively. It' not debatable really.. they are worse defensively in the backcourt than they are in the frontcourt.

You have D-Lo, Crabbe, Harris, Kilpatrick, Levert and then you have Carroll who isn't even close to what he was in Atlanta.

It's not my fault they go small with Booker at the 5 and RHJ at the 4 for offense. Jarrett Allen should play the 5 instead.

I'm not arguing who is worse, or what not.

I'm saying they are so bad all around defensively that saying one area is better than the other defensively literally doesn't matter. What I think is funny.

And RHJ is a plus wing defender...he should not be playing the 4...I have no idea what they are thinking with that. He got abused down low against Turner, Young, and Sabonis.
