The more I think about it, the more i dont want to trade Kyrie unless some other team wants to call us and make us an unbelievable offer. I dont see any team doing that given that the trade request puts us in a slight disadvantage esp after Kyrie has only gives 4 places as his preferred choice.

I would like to roll through this year with our team intact. Maybe the knowledge of the impending end may force all our role players to step up their game knowing this year may be their best shot to win a championship.

Once this upcoming season is over if LeBron opts in then we trade Kyrie for what ever offer we get or if LeBron opts out then we have a better chance to try and reason with Kyrie to let him know that he is the alpha once again.

Someone please tell Kyrie that he wont be the "franchise" player in San Antonio, that title belongs to Kawhi. Yeah sure, go to Miami, NY or Minnesota, but good luck never winning a ring again.

There's extreme pressure. He's a ticking time bomb. The team has barely any face left to save, the organization is in disarray, now their star player next to Lebron is asking to leave. Only way to stay afloat is trade him and get as much as they can in return as soon as they can.

What's the other option? Leave him on the team, a disgruntled player? Morale of the team is already incredibly low and shakey to begin with.

You cannot trade Irving simply because he says trade me... So many teams have had to deal with this before.

Exactly, shut the fuck up and play your contract out. I wouldn't trade him unless someone went nuts and gave us their first born. You get paid 20 mil a year to play basketball, I could give two shits if you're unhappy. He has no leverage. None.

Just a question - would you give up Love/Kyrie/Cedi/Shump/Frye if we got back Chandler, Melo, Josh Jackson, and Dennis Smith? And of course additional contracts would have to be added as this would be a heavily complicated 4 team deal...but would anyone here do that? We'd be looking at a team of:

Tristan/Chandler/Tavares
Melo/Green
LeBron/Jackson/RJ
JR/Korver
Rose (FA)/Smith

Two young studs for the future and maybe just enough to contend? I was playing around on the trade machine and a trade can work but can't put Josh or Dennis in trades yet...

I think we will get a good package for Kyrie. The difference is we aren't rebuilding so a team looking to get Kyrie doesn't have to give up alot of young assets and draft picks to get him. Kyrie has a championship ring and been mentor by LeBron for 3 season, this makes him more valuable to a franchise that is trying to come up.

Alot of times teams looking to get stars have good players that they willing to move but are older so a rebuilding team doesn't want them. We are retooling so basically anything a team has is on the table. Young players and assets will be considered so we can make other moves. Useful players at just able any age will be considered too. We will be willing to eat salary and give up expiring contracts too.

This might actually net us what we need to retool this team to be better. In the end it might be what helps us keep LeBron.

No because you get swept out of the Finals with that lineup.

If we get swept again, LeBron is leaving bro.. If LeBron leaves, Melo opts out and leaves... So you're left with Jackson and Smith instead of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love...

Thus, over the course of one season, your value has greatly diminished...

BTW, if James leaves and Kyrie makes All-NBA, he likely doesn't want to be traded anymore since he's then DPE eligible.

All of this assumes you can get Irving to stick it out for just one more season with James; but again, he doesn't really have a choice, and the only reason you wouldn't do this is if you think James will leave if Irving is still on the roster.

Without the power of hindsight I find it hard to disagree or agree with the bolded statement. I tried to play with the ESPN trade machine to see which teams can help us in the Kyrie trades and i cant see one trade that makes sense for both us and the other team. Anyways i am still recovering from the shock news - maybe things will work out for better.

Plus K. Love + K. Irving + Lebron salary (Since we are expecting to opt out) is still an Eastern Conference playoff team with finals potential.

This goes back to the Kevin Love trade for me. Griffin offered Bennett, Waiters, and a low first rounder. Initially, I was one of the people saying, "low-ball Minnesota! They have no leverage!" Plenty of people to this day think the Cavs overpaid by including Wiggins. Reality is, the team with the prized top asset holds the power to pass on the deal, and it's an underrated power play.

It will be interesting to see what the Cavs land... If they land the PHO package that has been talked about in fine with that...if we end up somehow getting a Cousins or Porzingis I'm very interested to see how that plays out

The thing we LeBron is, if we trade Irving to please him we still don't know if he's leaving or not.

So these are the possibilities: a) one more season of LeBron + Irving, then LeBron leaves and Kyrie stays (assuming Kyrie's problem is LeBron); b) trading Kyrie to please LeBron, with a 50/50 chance he stays or goes leaving us with neither. Which one is better?
