A 31 year old Dragic alone is not enough. Whiteside would need to be included in any Miami deal, and I highly doubt they give them both up. While that's the only way its even close to a fair deal for us, i don't see why Miami would do it. And even though Miami highly covets both players, I still dont think Whiteside 28 and Dragic 31 make us any better, just older. We would most likely have to give up Thompson with Irving. I understand this is a win now move, but I dont think Dan Gilbert wants that type of trade. I think DG wants young talent. Otherwise we would already have Chris Paul, and David Griffin would still be GM. While teams like Miami may have a sexy "win now" offer, ultimately the type of offers we prefer are from teams like Phoenix or Phili, who have young talent to offer. Josh Jackson or Ben Simmons all the way. Even Detroit has a better offer than Miami since Drummond is only 24. Part of our problem dealing with GS is our age. We need to get younger, more athletic and better defensively. Dragic is the kind of player we should be signing to a cheap vet min contract, not trading for. And aside from blocking a few shots, what has Whiteside really accomplished outside of the D-League? I'm not sold on dealing with Miami at all. Pat Riley is a SNAKE.

Can't trade Osman until Weds. - thinking that may be holding a deal up (?)

No he just will have to be added to make any great deal work. Unless Lebron and the Ca"b"vs know something about him that we do not know.

I find it funny to think that some would be disappointed if this feud gets resolved and Kyrie stays with the Cavs.

I hear the argument that the team, as currently constructed, can't beat the Warriors. Well here's something to consider. Getting less than 100% value for Kyrie doesn't actually make the team a better competitor for the Warriors. So we maybe gain a little defensively, but we'd lose quite a bit offensively.

I understand we're likely going to need to trade Kyrie, but I still believe the best outcome for the team by far is for him to agree it's best to stay.

I really think the front office needs to get aggressive with a Charlotte trade. Kyrie is more talented than Kemba but at the end of the day I don't think it's that big of a gap. MKG is one of the better perimeter defenders in the league and you could put him on KD. Throw in Osman and a first rounder from Charlotte and it makes sense for both sides. Then you could package Shump and that first round pick for a solid rim protector and you have yourself a squad who could beat GS. Just my 2 cents lol

A Cavs team that can rest Lebron and not immediately blow a lead is better equipped. That's what the goal of this offseason was.

The addition of Rose, while keeping Kyrie, provides another scorer while LBJ sits. Green provides yet another role player for minutes and flexibility.

Assuming LBJ remains himself (i.e. Uber elite), having him maximize his minutes rather than pacing himself can be a difference maker in and of its own right.

The issues in the GS games was the bench. If Kyrie stays, the bench is better.

Charlotte is a good trade partner, but I'm not sure how interested they are? I'd do this trade, which works under the salary cap:

To Cavs: Walker, MKG, Willliams or Zeller, option to flip draft positions in 2018 & 2019
To Hornets: Irving, Shumpert, Frye, Osman

Curry is better than Kyrie.

But, I disagree that Warriors would get cooked in 5. They are simply too stacked for that to happen. Kyrie would still more or less keep their scoring and spacing elite. We probably win in 7. But eitherway, it would be far closer.

Also, LeBron - Curry would be the ultimate 1-2 duo ever. The best ever at penetrating the paint paired with the best ever shooter? Who do you help off? Good luck defending that!

Wait a minute...I think you guys are onto something here...

Kyrie for Curry straight up. :chuckle:

Now I need to go take a shower.

If this thing is going to get resolved, it needs to happen before the start of training camp. And by resolved, i do not just mean by Kyrie showing up to collect a paycheck. He would need to sign an extension immediately to prove his intentions, in order for the Cavs to avoid getting completely screwed over. Cavs know they have at the very maximum until the Feb 8th trade deadline to trade Kyrie before his value totally depreciates to a 1-year rental, and that's why there is no sense of urgency at the moment. But if by some miracle Kyrie has a change of heart and decides he wants to stay, then an immediate extension on his contract would need to happen before training camp, just to smooth things over and give the Cavs a piece of mind. Kyrie does not get to wear a Cavs uniform again without signing an extension... bottom line. I honestly think that the sooner we trade him, the better. We need to lay down the law with Phoenix and put our demands on the table... give them a deadline. Jackson, Bledsoe, Chandler and a pick.

Kyrie having a change of heart and coming back is a long shot.

Kyrie having a change of heart and signing an extension with the Cavs is the longest of long shots.

Phoenix is acting as though they are the front runners and the Cavs need them more than they need Kyrie. I'm not sure that is the case at all. The Cavs should be open to the best deal, even if that means trading Kyrie to a team within the Eastern Conference.

I sure wish Iknew what was happening because things have been awfully quiet around trade talks for Kyrie?! I know NBA front office personnel often times vacation in August, so maybe that's slowing down talks?

Again no way Riley trades Whiteside. It would be like the Knicks trading us Porzingis. They want to pair Kyrie with those guys not lose them.

Waiting until December for Cousins/Rondo is far more realistic.

I like Cousins and all but giving up Kyrie and getting two guys on 1 year deals will KILL the Cavs future.

At this point, I think if there was an offer the Cavs were willing to take, the deal would be done

I think he's coming to camp at this a point unless somebody increases their offer substantially.

And I'm ok with it.
