2017-2018 off-season thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think 2 years 10M would be fair.

Honestly, I'd try to squeeze Korver a little more than that.

Anything we can do to find some financial wiggle room, we should explore.

I like Kyle but he's not an essential bring back to me.

He's a 36 year old spot up shooter with declining defensive skills.

To me, he's more of a Mike Miller at this point.....I'd offer him 2 years, $8 million and see what he says.

I don't think there's a huge market for him given the landscape.

SG/SF class is pretty deep and there isn't a better situation for him.

Does he really want to go to somewhere like the Bucks or Pelicans to end his career?

I'd sell the Finals discount.

I think Korver improves despite his age if he stays with the Cavs. He was the ultimate system player with Atlanta. Seems to play better when he knows his role and the players around him. Didn't even play half a full NBA season with Cavs last year.

Of course, it would help if Lue implemented an actual offensive system to fit into but that's another issue.

Korver's former Hawk teammate Sefolosha would be an ideal fit for Jefferson's role with that taxpayer MLE if his market fails to develop.

If only someone would take JR or Iman.

You talking 10 per, or 10 total for two years?

One way to show someone you don't really appreciate/prioritize them that much is offer them a paycut.

I'd say we're looking at closer to 2 years/14-16 million total. Probably a non guaranteed 3rd year or perhaps the second year is a partial guarantee.

Useful weapon when we use him properly. Hopefully having whole season will help him have more of an impact in playoffs.

Now to get melo and some defensive first bench options

My only concern with Korver is that he never shows up when you need him. This proved true when he was in Atlanta when we shut him down, and it proved true when the Warriors shut him down.

I don't care if this was his first NBA Finals....my eye test told me he was garbage. He was brought in to make 3's....he did not when it mattered.

I though when we shut him down when he was in Atlanta, it was because we might have game-planed for him specifically as maybe their top option. But when GS shut him down, and he was maybe our 4th option on the floor...I lost all hope.

This would be sickening, they would be even fucking better...

-We shut him down in 2014-2015 only by Delly sweeping the leg karate kid style. Prior to that, he was 4-10 from 3P
-In 2015-2016, he was 6-14 from 3P, but 5-9 in gm3 alone so we really did shut him down in the other games
-For us this year, he was 5-13. Good %, but missed two key ones.

I think more than Korver choking or getting shut down, it's just tougher overall for him to get the # of shots and types of looks he gets in the regular season. But that is the same for any spot up 3P(vs guys like Curry, Klay, Kyrie) and his % are still above 40% in the last series his team played in each of the past three years.

I think we also need to give him somewhat of a pass or at least acknowledgment that after 350 reg season games of running around in a much different ATL offense, he had 30 games here in the reg season. Ultimately, a shooter needs to hit his shots, but one would hope a full 82 games and 4 rounds of playoffs would lead to him getting lots of good looks and opportunities within the Cavs offense
