2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
First He won't be picked anywhere in the first two rounds. After that you'd have to look at teams who have extra picks. Oh wait we have extra picks....

Nah but seriously I would love to draft him and let him sit for two years but that's me being a selfish Browns fan. He should go back to school.

Given this QB class, I really can't see him going in round 3 or later. He just has too much raw talent. It will be an overdraft but someone will certainly take him in the first 60 picks IMO. If someone offered me that over under, I would most certainly go under.

#3 is absurd (as Miller cast out there) but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him creep in the early second, late first if he has good workouts. His arm talent alone is going to make at least one GM fall in love with him.....and that's all it takes.

Seriously, look at the throw at :22. How many guys can do that? Off-balance, moving to his right, off his back foot, flicks it over the WR's shoulder for a TD.

Again, I'm not saying he's even a top 15 pick with great workouts but plenty of GM's are going to look past his inexperience given his physical gifts. He has a long way to go but everything is there from an athletic / arm standpoint....a team just needs to view him as a 2-3 year project.

That's what I'm saying. There won't be just any team that takes that risk unless they are being very irresponsible. It will be a team with expandable picks and one that knows what they're doing with the QB position moving forward.

Is that Brandon Weeden?

This is ridiculous.

Just flatly ridiculous. It's disingenuous to the point where I hope Josh Allen doesn't read into this and returns to school.

And I love what Josh Allen brings, but thus is unfair to the kid

I am a bit of a metrics guy. Two metrics i love (coupled with arm strength), completion percentage and td/int percentage. Two things Allen doesnt do well. I love his size and arm strenght, but cant ignore the poor numbers.

Fucking Weeden.

What the hell were they doing?

Allen is bigger, more athletic, has a better arm and plays in a pro-style system.

Oh, and he's 7 years younger.

So, yeah.....just like Weeden. :chuckle:

More like an athletic Derek Anderson. Just dont see it myself. Much rather have Trubisky, and even then he isnt a first round to me. Now if we take Trubisky on a reach in the middle of the first I wont be mad because of the importance of the position, just dont fuck this one up and do anything but Myles or Allen. (myles preferred, but neither could be blocked with one lineman)

Weeden is the perfect QB if every single play is 1-2-3-4-5-plant-throw to your primary read who is also wide open.

I bet he kills it in pass skeleton drills.

Miller's full mock with Browns picks:

1.) DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M

The clear-cut top player in the draft class goes No. 1 overall.

Garrett struggled through an ankle injury this season—and constant double-teams when he was on the field—and still generated the impact on the field to match his insane athleticism. At 6'5" and up to 275 pounds, scouts I've spoken to expect Garrett to run in the 4.5-second range at the NFL Scouting Combine.

On a historical scale, Garrett has a higher grade for me than Joey Bosa or Jadeveon Clowney did.

Even with a need at quarterback, the Browns simply cannot pass on this rare talent.

12.) QB DeShone Kizer, Notre Dame

The Browns pass on a quarterback at the top of the draft, but they can't do the same with their second pick in Round 1.

Kizer has been a big name all season, starting with his excellent showing in an overtime loss to Texas in Week 1. His size, arm strength, ball placement and football IQ all point to the traits that scouts and general managers love. His play was up and down at times, but his tools are the stuff you look for in the top 10 of the draft.

With first overall pick Myles Garrett and then Kizer, the Browns finally have a promising foundation built on smart football decisions.

33.) CB Jalen Tabor, Florida

50.) T Antonio Garcia, Troy

65.) C Ethan Pocic, LSU

105.) TE Gerald Everett, South Alabama

137.) WR Fred Ross, Miss. State

146.) LB Josh Harvey-Clemons, Louisville

178.) EDGE Dylan Cole, Missouri State

187.) G Isaac Asiata, Utah

238.) WR Gabe Marks, Washington State

Just can't go with Kizer at 12 unless you're 110% sure he's the guy.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Hue could do with Kizer, but not with that price tag.

Further, am I crazy to think our offensive skill position talent is somewhat adequate -- and that the offensive line should be prioritized ahead of it? I know you have to adhere to value, your board and other sentiments but if we want to take a step, the line has to have its final pieces incorporated before the offense makes any sort of advancement.

I think a guy like Kessler, with a respectable line and what we have at skill, isn't the worst thing you could trot out -- especially in year two in the system while you continue to build a defense that won't surrender 27 ppg or whatever the hell it was.

This isn't to be construed me trying to advocate for Kessler to be "the guy" because I don't think he is; give me defensive impact early, maulers in the middle, and maybe we can string together a season that earns Hue a third go at it.

I'd say adequate is more than fair for the Browns weapons. Just need a QB that doesn't hold on to the ball too long.

I agree. QB and O Line need upgraded on offense more than the skill players, right now. Though I'd hardly say our RB and WR corps are great.
