2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not having athletic testing numbers and small school WR do not usually end up well for guys. FYI, I believe the last time a non power 5 WR went in the top 10 was in the 70s or something. Its crazy.

Some of the greats went to smaller schools: Andre Reed went to Kutztown, PA. Jerry Rice went to Mississippi Valley State. Randy Moss went to Marshall. Steve Largent went to the University of Tulsa. That said, it's less likely that a receiver falls through the cracks these days. Scouts missed on Chad Hansen so he went to Idaho State, then teams came calling for him to transfer.

A WR isn't my target but if a guy who was projected that high is available at 33, I'd take him if he is high on your board. He won't need to come in right away either with the amount of WRs we have, so he can get himself healthy and build for the future.

Im not saying small school WRers are bad. Im saying Davis not being able to test and being from a small school is probably going to drop him lower than he should go.

Randy Moss is a bad, bad example of a small school receiver. Dude was committed to Notre Dame and Florida State but couldn't qualify. Dude was a high level D1 player.

We were talking great receivers outside of the big 5 conferences. Can I swap him out for Shannon Sharpe out of Savannah State? I could make one hell of a list just with the traditionally black schools.

How dare you leave TO off of this list.

From my log of mock drafts, here is a chart of where each draft has the top 5 quarterbacks being taken. Not all mocks go into round 2. Each vertical line along represents a different writer's mock draft. The positioning of the dots along that line shows where that writer has the particular quarterback going.2017 mock drafts qbs.PNG
The #6 line is the Jets and shows about half the mocks guessing at a QB for the Jets, about evenly split between Watson and Trubisky.

At 10 a small handful of writers suggest the Bills will go for a QB, usually Trubisky.

At #12, there are the Browns, where only a few have us passing on a QB, with most tabbing Trubisky as our guy.

Several writers give a QB to the Cardinals, and more than half of the times it's Mahomes.

Finally the big line is the Texans at 25, where few writers have them NOT taking a quarterback. It's anybody's guess who it'll be, though only one believes Trubisky will fall that far. Even Davis Webb makes a couple appearances here.

I am okay with the proposed trade to get to #5 in this. I'm a little upset the pick isn't Hooker, but they are going to address QB at some point. I think.
