2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's showing up because sportscoach keeps bringing him up lol

While McCarron also keeps showing up in Rumors, so if someone posts anything about Grappolo, then McCarron in all honesty is in the same conversation lol. Yes I am the one mostly putting him up, what in all sincerity I can not rule out McCarron ending up in Cleveland because of our head coach of Jackson and the fact we do not really have a set starting QB.

The Cincinnati reporters are writing about McCarron going to Cleveland and the Cleveland writers are talking about getting Grappolo. I think both are wrong, but both are the same probability of happening.

I would rather just roll with my main man, Cody.

i think anyone making a case for Garoppolo is presumably on the McCarron band wagon as well. Young quarterbacks that have been mentored by good quarterbacks, with limited on the field production. That said ill still take neither for more than the late 2nd round pick the browns have this year.

No way. They are not at all similar as QBs. I would trade the 33 and a 2nd round pick next year for Jimmy G. Wouldn't even trade a 5th rounder for McCarron. Just don't see the point in such a low ceiling QB whose floor isn't even that high. Genuinely think Kessler is just as good and I'm not very high on Cody

Unsafe assumption to make.

Jimmy Garoppolo was a good enough prospect to get drafted in the 2nd round. In his limited NFL snaps he has down nothing to hurt that stock. AJ McCarron was drafted as a 5th rounder because of his mediocrity as a pro prospect. In his limited NFL playing time he also has done little to impact his stock.

The fact that you'd throw these guys' abilities/strengths/weaknesses out the window and instead lump them both together as "young quarterbacks that have been mentored by good quarterbacks with limited on field production" is alarming to me.

I would rather do that as well and go for a guy in day three to compete for the roster. I really would like to solidify our defense with the talent in this year's class since this is a class I wouldn't be surprised if a Sherman came out of this draft (aka a guy who was drafted day three who become a very good starter) this draft is supposed to be deep in positions like CB, S, TE, RB and next year's draft is supposed to be a very good QB class.

No offense but McCarron has had more NFL snaps and knows the offense that is run in Cleveland. I agree Grappolo has a higher ceiling, but Jackson knows who he is getting if he goes to get McCarron while Grappolo, no matter how talented is a much higher risk and that is inflated because of the fact he can do what Cousins is doing in Washington/walk if we do not pay for him. I cannot merit trading so much for a guy who can walk or is guaranteed 24 mil dollars. Both guys do not make sense to me at the asking prices.

McCarron was rated a 3rd or 4th round QB, but dropped because of a couple of bad interviews, where as jimmy G went the last pick of the 2nd round. You really think there is that much difference between the two?

That said ill give you something Jimmy G doesnt have, McCarron was the starting QB of Alabama which won 2 championships over his time there.

I know a whole lot of people have absolutely huge fucking boners for Jimmy G, but there are a lot more similarities between these two QBs than differences. I got it Jimmy G has that whole mystery box thing going for him. But there are just as many question marks around him as their are AJ McCarron, and probably less around McCarron. Yet for some reason there are a ton of people that love Jimmy G and willing to trade a 12th overall pick for, but no one where seems interested in even trading as much as a low second, or early 3rd for McCarron. Im simply pointing out the hypocrisy of a bunch of posters.

Like i said neither is worth above a low 2nd round pick, unless there is some kicker clause that increases the return if the QB stays and does very well

There has never been a season in the time I've been following the draft that this line was not used during the draft process.

I mean if you compare the overall talent between the game film of this year's class and next year's class, there is no question next year's class is better. Now I think Grappolo is equal talent wise to like a Trubisky, but drafting Trubisky we have 5 years of control while Grappolo has only one year left and can easily say, hey pay me like a franchise QB or I will walk and I cannot merit the Patriots price for someone who can strap us cash wise. I know we have millions, but I want to finalize the roster in 2018 for a playoff run, not stuck paying a 26 year old QB, with like a year's worth of experience 24 mil dollars

Like I wouldn't be mad if we got Grappolo since I do like him, but he's too much of a risk long term for me.

Dude it's not hypocrisy it's valuing one QB significantly more than the other

Just because you view them as similar doesn't mean everyone does.

McCarron doesn't have the arm or the decision making/quick release processing speed that Jimmy G does. He's way more comparable to Kessler than Jimmy

I thought Cinci said they would no longer trade with the Browns now that Hue was hired as the HC.
That implies Cincinnati has traded with us recently?
