2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That said ill give you something Jimmy G doesnt have, McCarron was the starting QB of Alabama which won 2 championships over his time there.

McCarron knows how to get it done!

I mean he has been part of 2 college championships and everyone on the boards wants to sleep with his girl, so he has to have done something right lol

I could look like Louie Anderson but if I was starting QB for Bama and everyone knew I was going pro, pretty sure girls in relative hotness to Katherine Webb would be shake-weight'n me all night long

No offense but McCarron has had more NFL snaps and knows the offense that is run in Cleveland. I agree Grappolo has a higher ceiling, but Jackson knows who he is getting if he goes to get McCarron while Grappolo, no matter how talented is a much higher risk and that is inflated because of the fact he can do what Cousins is doing in Washington/walk if we do not pay for him. I cannot merit trading so much for a guy who can walk or is guaranteed 24 mil dollars. Both guys do not make sense to me at the asking prices.
McCarron was rated a 3rd or 4th round QB, but dropped because of a couple of bad interviews, where as jimmy G went the last pick of the 2nd round. You really think there is that much difference between the two?

I know a whole lot of people have absolutely huge fucking boners for Jimmy G, but there are a lot more similarities between these two QBs than differences. I got it Jimmy G has that whole mystery box thing going for him. But there are just as many question marks around him as their are AJ McCarron, and probably less around McCarron. Yet for some reason there are a ton of people that love Jimmy G and willing to trade a 12th overall pick for, but no one where seems interested in even trading as much as a low second, or early 3rd for McCarron. Im simply pointing out the hypocrisy of a bunch of posters.

Like i said neither is worth above a low 2nd round pick, unless there is some kicker clause that increases the return if the QB stays and does very well

These posts put a lot of words in my mouth.

I took issue with you thinking that anyone who likes the idea of adding Garoppolo also probably wants McCarron. I would like a Jimmy G trade if we got him for two 2nds. I would not like a McCarron trade unless we got him for a day 3 pick. And even then my expectations would be low.

I liked one of them as a prospect, and I didn't/still don't like the other.

And that's really all that matters before considering any other factors, right? If I don't like McCarron's skillset then there's no point in talking about him being mentored by Dalton, knowing our system, having a certain contract situation...not all QBs are created equal and I think Jimmy has a better shot to turn into something than McCarron.

Ps. I don't think either us meant that you personally/everyone in the board says they will be, but if you were running the organization they are in the same category, but Grappolo may be first choice and McCarron is second type of thing depending on their prices.

To me I see those two like this:

Grappolo
pros: Talented with upside. On film he is just as good, if not better, than anyone we could draft this year.
Cons: patriots price, 1 year left on contract, failure of patriots recent backup QBs, doesn't know the system in Cleveland.

McCarron
Pros: Knows the system in Cleveland. Game manager accurate QB. Has multiple years left on contract. Browns/Jackson know who he is and what they are getting.

Cons: Not a very high ceiling/lower ceiling than Grappolo, Trubisky. Not as strong nor as quick with his arm. Cincinnati's price may be too high, but more sensible than patriots.

Aka they both has their issues and it's possible both of them are a bad move for us cause of the prices the teams want for them.

Have we recieved confirmation whether or not Sportscoach is a Tornicade alternate profile? Feel like I'm being mind F'ed over here.

@Phills14 @Randolphkeys

I can promise ya I am not Tornicade, that much is simple. I am just an opinionated and obnoxious guy like my self made title is lol seems like @AZ_ is my enemy/rival

That is a pretty good synopsis which leads me to believe we will end up with neither.

I noticed that and think we should back off him and accept him.

He is decently knowledgeable but i am guessing he discovered the extreme knowledge of some of us so he decided to join the conversations instead of lead them.

If Cody Kessler wasn't a Brown, we'd be talking ourselves into him, I feel.

The grass really isn't always greener.

Bro. I wouldn't trade Kessler for Jimmy G and Run AMC.

12-6.

I think his posts have been pretty solid for awhile after the initial adjustment. Not sure about the "extreme knowledge" on our end -- certainly not on "my" end, but I think the trick is not to talk down to other posters. He was doing that initially, and stopped, so we should do the same.

Football is extreme for me as it is my favorite sport, basketball close behind. Baseball no so much.

Lots of the people on here know sports very well, some are even true insiders.

My favorite story of running someone off was when we were even rougher on Scott brooks when he posted on here when he just started being an assistant coach. (he was such a douche though so he deserved it)

Based on some of his posts, I suspect "sportscoach" has probably coached at some level. Not above highschool, but probably still somewhere.
