2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Football is extreme for me as it is my favorite sport, basketball close behind. Baseball no so much.

Lots of the people on here know sports very well, some are even true insiders.

My favorite story of running someone off was when we were even rougher on Scott brooks when he posted on here when he just started being an assistant coach. (he was such a douche though so he deserved it)
Can I hear this story in a pm?

I told it recently, basically he had a stupid name Scott Brooks.......Jam.

Was made fun of for the name, basically saying the guy was white and had a 2 inch verticle and he got insulted, after a bit of back and forth he saw his name in a favorite garbage time thread was even more insulted as he didnt think he was a garbage time player.

He was arrogant but it was funny. Its not like Brooks didnt know he only got in the game at the end of blow outs, did he really not realize he was a garbage time player? lol

"If my name is called first, I'll probably sit there, look at my two best friends and laugh," Garrett said. "[Then] smile at my parents, give them hugs and go about eating my crawfish." - Myles Garrett

Sounds like a Joe Thomas type guy, I'll take another one of those.

I like the idea of him matching up against Joe Thomas for big chunks of training camp.

Talk about taking some serious iron and forging a weapon in the fire.

I am guessing he coached high school track and timed his brother at 4.2 in the 40.

I was a head coach of a K-8 swim team at a local pool. I taught swimming for 10 years there as well and honestly I was best with development of strokes and predicting talents (Some how I was good at teaching breaststroke even though I couldn't even do the stroke right myself. Butterfly was my specialty when it came to competing before I got hurt). Also when I was a kid, once my dad retired from the Military, he was my coach in soccer and baseball for a few years. He was never the guy who was extremely knowledgeable, but he knew how to get the best out of the kids and all got to play well.

I think every Cleveland fan is excited for getting a guy like Garrett to join this team especially after we really got a lot better with the OLine. This team will be a lot better next season and for once we should keep a coach and FO in place for more than two years. Not sure if we will become a wild card team, but we will not be out of any ball games really next season.

Can you help me with mine?

My breast stroking technique is flawless.

Absolutely, I will just need your girl/most attractive female friend and I can show you how to improve your technique!

Now I would talk about some Browns news, but outside of guys they are doing private workouts with and Erving moving to RT, there isn't really any news. I still am hoping they bring in a solid CB and S free agent, but that is looking slimmer right now, which tells me it's quite possible they could drafts DBs like they drafted WRs last season. Though with it being a deep class in both TE and RB, it wouldn't surprise me with 11 picks, they bring in those guys as well.

If Cam Erving opens the year starting at right tackle, I view it more as an indictment of Shon Coleman than anything positive for Erving.

We've seen enough Erving to know that he's garbage and doesn't have it between the ears. I would love to attempt to trade him for anything we can get.

First off, I always hated the Erving pick. He was a late second/early third round talent with holes in his game taken way too early. That said, there are some positives about his play.

Problems I've seen:

-Stands straight up in pass protection. The embarrassing bull rushes that flatten him reflect this issue.

-Doesn't get enough bend from his knees, relies on his hand placement and foot speed to fend off defenders.

So, I don't know if these are correctable, but he is still a 6'5 315 guy with decent foot speed who likes getting physical. You can play a guy somewhere with those measurements and traits, he just obviously shouldn't be the center.

Erving is far better suited to be an OT than he is an interior player.

He actually looked like someone with potential in his one tryout at RT. While I wish they'd simply bring back Pasztor, I'm okay with the Erving/Coleman duo battling it out.

In my mind this will look similar to a Special Olympics wrestling match.

Why?

You've seen each of them for about 5 minutes at the RT position, and both played well.

It was a joke, poor taste for sure, but just a joke.

I actually was an advocate for keeping Erving on his rookie deal because he did look decent at RT and imo RT is his natural position.

Coleman on the other hand just needs an opportunity to see what we got in the young guy. He did nothing good or bad, and he was well regarded for RT when coming out of college.
