2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sherman doesn't rely on athleticism like other elite CB's do. I also don't think the assets that will be needed to acquire him will be that substantial. At best it would be a future 2nd. Most likely scenario is a 3rd round pick. Annnnd we can and probably still would take a CB with one of our first 5 picks. I just don't see his game falling off like most people keep projecting. I like the idea of having an elite CB playing opposite of Haden.

Sherman hasn't been elite for 2 years.

This isn't true. So how many elite CB's are there in the NFL if Richard Sherman isn't one today?
In no particular order:

AJ Bouye
Xavier Rhodes
Josh Norman
Tramaine Johnson
Brent Grimes
Janoris Jenkins
Aqib Talib

That's just off the top of my head, he's also still a damn good CB but I wouldn't call him the best of the best.

Malcolm Butler, Patrick Peterson, etc.

Lol wait, So those guys are elite but Richard Sherman isn't? Sherman must have said something you didn't like lol.

From a FoxSports article

Sherman has been elite since he started in Seattle
Sherman is allowing a 48.0 completion percentage and 50.3 passer rating since entering the league in 2011 — both best in the NFL in that span — according to NFL Research. He's defensed 92 passes and has 30 interceptions — both of which lead the league, and 10 interceptions more than the next best player.

Sherman's hard to score on
Sherman has allowed 16 career touchdowns, according to FS1's research staff, including just one in 12 playoff games. Patrick Peterson, another elite cornerback selected in the first round of the same 2011 draft Sherman was taken in, has allowed 25 in his career.

Sherman shuts 'em down in the playoffs
Sherman is allowing a 46.1 completion percentage and 49.5 passer rating in the playoffs — both best in the NFL in this span, according to FS1's research staff. Here's a reminder about who he's gone up against in the playoffs: Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas, Jordy Nelson and Julian Edelman, among others.

He's an elite CB without question.

People on this board arent willing to give up a third for a top 5 cb with 2 years left, but are willing to give up the 12th overall for a qb with 1 year left on his contract and 96 passes thrown glad you guys aren't running things

But...but... Cleveland media told me he's not that good.

Britt spent the first four years dicking around and wasting his talent in Tennessee. His three years of production with the Rams were spent waiting for the other shoe to drop, like his many catchable balls with the Titans. Nobody wants to be fooled twice, but Britt showed he can be a reliable threat in the middle of the field.

The package Seattle would be seeking wouldn't be just a third round pick. So let's go ahead and get that fantasy scenario off the table and talk about real world shit.

Maybe I am oblivious, but I thought most of the Jimmy G fans on here were saying we should trade multiple seconds. I don't recall many saying we should give up the 12th overall.

He was 18th in completion % this year. You're quoting an article that includes stats all the way back to 2011. He's still a damn good cb (which I clearly stated) but there are guys that are better than him now.

And more will continue to get better as he ages.
