2017 Browns Off Season Thread

For a team with cap space, this is a real head scratcher.

Who better to help Njoku in his first season in the NFL?

Edit: Wild guess, Barnidge to the Colts as a player, to Flint Michigan to fix the worst plumbing on Earth in his spare time.

Pretty sure Desmond Bryant and Thomas are the only guys over 30 on the roster.

Greco probably is too but I doubt he makes the roster with his injury.
 
Gary is an awesome dude and for that reason, I always wished he played with us until he was like 40. I think he really burst onto the scene in 2015 and caught a lot of teams by surprise, and his hands are incredible.
I think we felt limited by his speed and his blocking, and that's a tough combination to account for. It's just this kind of dude who you hate to see go, that's all. Hopefully he has an outstanding career somewhere far far away from the AFC North, so we can root for him like one of our own most weeks.

EDIT: I feel like I am grasping at straws to figure out why we let him go. I mean, he was a pro-bowl alternate. I am sad about it.

I don't think I agree with cutting Barnidge, not this late in the off-season. You still need some veterans on the roster and I was hoping to see Njoku learn from Barnidge.
 
They probably saw how bad His scoop slam was.
 
Ultimately, as a 1st Njoku was going to get a ton of snaps.

Now you can definitely have lots of two TE sets, but in those situations, for 2017, what is best for the Browns. Giving most of those snaps to Barnidge or to DeValve, who you invested a 4th rd pick in and who flashed a few times late in the year. And if you determine that the answer is DeValve(which you should), it's nice to let Barnidge not rot on the bench and let him go play somewhere that can use him more for another year or two.
 
Well with Hue saying Peppers will get a chance to play offense, looks like it will be TE.
