2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Since I don't know a whole lot about him, How good would Calvin Pryor be for this team? It seems like he is on the trade block

@Randolphkeys and anyone else who knows about the player and how you think he would fit with Williams's defense. I doubt we make a move for him, but he would be an interesting guy.

PS. Another rumor for McCarron so we shall see if we make a move tonight for him since it will be done by tonight.

Bengals have openly denied receiving a call from the Browns regarding McCarron.

There is so many rumors right now, so who knows about what is true and what is not.

Would it worth getting Calvin Pryor? I know he wasn't ranked well in New York, but we have a different system here, I just don't know a whole a lot about him to figure if he would fit in here.

Pryor is a true SS. After drafting Peppers and Kindred last year I don't see them having any interest in Pryor.

I think it's safe to say that the 2017 Browns' draft class, on paper, is easily the best haul we've had since the return.

Even though I'm not a fan of Peppers, I can't deny we added four different 1st round talents in this draft alone. If you add in Houston's 1st for next year and Jamie Collins (acquired for #103 this year, where the Saints took OLB Trey Hendrickson) we really capitalized on picks this year.

Quick guess at a 53.

QB: (3) Kessler, Kizer, Hogan

I think the Browns ultimately decide to just part ways with Osweiler barring a great camp performance. Kessler proved he can be solid at this level and that was with a trash O-Line.

RB: (4) Crowell, Johnson, Jackson, Dayes

Jackson is a great athlete who was cut by the Cowboys late in the season because McFadden was coming back. I think he has a shot to really be a major contributor this season. We kept 4 RBs last year so I think we could end up seeing 4 this year.

FB: (1) Vitale

Another SPARQ guy from last year that probably at least finds a way on the roster for special teams.

TE: (3) Njoku, DeValve, Telfer

I was a little surprised the Browns didn't take another more blocking oriented TE after letting go of Barnidge. I feel like Telfer is likely replaced during camp cut season.

WR: (6) Coleman, Britt, Louis, Higgins, Payton, Wright

Pretty sure I saw a tweet today that Sashi said in the post draft presser that they feel good about their group of WRs. So the guys drafted last year plus Britt seems likely. The Browns claimed a former Bengal WR, James Wright, in March who figures to be a special team type guy.

OL: (9) Thomas, Bitonio, Tretter, Zeitler, Erving, Drango, Martin, Coleman, Johnson

Both Erving and Coleman played well at RT in the last game of the season last year. It will be an interesting camp battle this summer. Reiter could also beat out Martin for the backup C position.

DL: (9) Garrett, Nassib, Ogbah, Orchard, Shelton, Ogunjobi, Brantley, Bryant, Meder.

Hopefully Brantley is cleared regarding his legal issues and comes ready to play. I hope Bryant is healthy and I hope we keep him as a mentor for other guys on the line. Orchard gets a last shot in camp this year.

LB: (5) Collins, Kirksey, Davis, Schobert, Carder

Like WR, Sashi said the Browns like their linebackers. So I'm inclined to think the group from last year will be it. Tank Carder keeps sticking around over the years but could see Alexander or another guy fill that space.

CB: (6) Haden, Taylor, Boddy-Calhoun, Wilson, Burley, Stribling

This is arguably the weakest position on the team along with S and QB. Burley was on the team last year. I think Stribling has a good shot to make the roster as an UDFA (at least as the roster stands). I'd expect some camp cuts/rotation at this position.

S: (4) Peppers, Powell, Kindred, Reynolds

Pretty much the same as CB. I think we will see some camp cut movement here. Honestly, Peppers might be the only S on the roster that is a lock to make the team.

ST: (3) Gonzalez, Colquitt, Hughlett

Fyi, the above roster has 38 players already acquired by this new regime.

Thats insane in just 2 off seasons.

IMG_0287.JPG So I didn't know where to put this but thought you all would enjoy this. So I won a twitter contest to go bowling with Christian kirksey duke Johnson and a couple other browns fans at corner alley last night. Some of the highlight : 1. Both guys loved the draft and think they will be significantly improved 2. Myles Garrett is going to be a monster from day 1 3. Hue Jackson really is a great coach to play for and they hated mike Pettine 4. Greg Williams has the respect of all defensive guys on the team and feel the defensive is going to be electric 5. Kirksey said he has no excuses for not making pro bowl this year as the defensive line should be eating up offensive lineman 6. Kizer is an interesting prospect that they can't wait to see what hue can do to develop him 7. They laughed when they selected the kicker in the 7th round 8. The tight end is extremely raw but Saunders can coach him up 9. They couldn't believe how many people were in the muni lot for the draft 10. Lastly they are pumped that the home opener is Pittsburgh and the crowd should be crazy ( Cleveland fans are wild they said )
