2017 Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Alright, Los. Time to own it. Vikings are 5-2 with the terrible offensive line you were talking about & Case Keenum winning them games while Dalvin Cook is out. You don't still think they were overrated, do you?

His 1st mistake was saying a .500 team was overrated.

His 2nd mistake was assuming the one lineman we took from the Panthers was going to stay at LT where he sucked, instead of RT where he was solid.

His 3rd mistake was letting his apparent disgust of the Vikings offense make him forget just how good the defense is.

However, in Los' defense...this is still the Vikings, and they are more than capable of losing this Sunday...I've seen that plenty of times in my years following this team.

If I told you they would be 5-2 after all of that would you have believed me?

Schedule bout to get real for them after this week.

For the Vikings?

They have like the 5th easiest SOS in the league moving forward...

at WAS
vs LAR
at DET
at ATL
at CAR

4 out of 5 on the road against teams that will be fighting for a playoff spot plus their injuries and QB situation are bound to catch up to them. If they win 3 out of 5 I will gladly give them their props. It won't be easy though. And that game against DET is on the road and it's on a Thursday night for a short week. Plus they already loss to DET at home earlier. It will be interesting.

Yeah...if you look at it in a vacuum without analyzing anything, I guess it's tough...

It doesn't seem like you know much about the Vikings though, and I mean no offense with that...just, you sell them absurdly short man, some of the things you've said about them even the most staunch Vikings self-deprecating fan wouldn't say...and I am one of those.

Also, Bridgewater and Bradford are both back after this week, #1 WR is back this week, and none of those teams scare me with the Vikings defense...especially Carolina. I'm actually laughing you think that's a tough game after what they've done to Cam the last few years...

This also doesn't seem like the best thread to talk about this.

I think it's perfectly fine to talk about winning teams in a Browns thread :chuckle:

The reason I think that will be a tough stretch is because all of those teams will have a lot to play for. Plus you guys have only had two true road games. Bradford is done. I know he'll probably be cleared but everything I read about his knee injury sounded like an issue that won't really get back to 100%. It sounded like it could have an effect on the rest of his career.

I'm rooting hard to Teddy but I don't know what to expect if he's thrown back in there. Plus there's a stretch of three straight road games.

You keep completely disregarding the other side of the ball, which is what wins them games though...what I said in the initial response.

Their defense will keep them in any game, doesn't matter who the opponent is, or where the game is played...it's beaten Carolina on the road by itself before (2016), it's beaten Atlanta on the road by itself before (2015), it's beaten Detroit on the road by itself before (2015)...

Also, in the one Browns themed aspect of this conversation, Pat Shurmur...yes, Pat Shurmur...has been impressive as a play-caller after taking over for Norv Turner late last year. If you told me Bradford would play a game and a half, with Keenum playing everything else halfway through the season, and the Vikings were just outside the top 10 in yards per game, I'd have laughed at you until I was red in the face...big reason for the success has been keeping the defense off of the field, unlike last year, and unlike last year, the line is healthy and players are actually coming back, instead of going down (Dalvin Cook excluded).

And, just my opinion, but I think Teddy takes the starting job after the bye, and I think he looks better than he did before he went down...offense they run now, as opposed to when he went down, is perfect for him...plus, everything about how he has looked has been encouraging.

Personally at this point i rather talk about the Vikings than the shit show that is the Browns. Much less depressing.

Hey...Vikings have had to purge old talent and bottom out a bit while playing young guys too. Just, they had a bit more talent to expedite things than the Browns had, and which obviously allowed them to win a few more games in the process.

But I don't think the Browns are that far off. I think you've got the foundation for both a good offense and good defense, considering the first things you want to build up are the fronts (OL, front 7) before throwing in young guys in the tough positions (QB, WR, CB), and I think you've accomplished that. Just, those last 3 position groups are what push you over the top in the current NFL, and they're also the hardest position group to hit on.

Real question is, do you trust the people in charge to identify the right QB to move forward with, good WRs who fit the system, or good CBs who fit the system? That, I honestly have no idea about.

But when you are very young, and not loaded with established talent, you want to see flashes or progression of what your groups could be. I think you guys got a good flash of what could be last week defensively vs Tennessee, which would have me excited to see that group healthy again.

I think we need a new LT, I think Thomas is done, i just dont think he needs money and wants to continue, hope i am wrong.

I am getting Down on Hue, i see some talent and he is getting zero out of it.

As for the front office, i still like it. They obviously should have taken Wentz, but I didnt like Wentz that much and everyone makes mistakes.

But in general they are hitting more than they are missing and that is a positive.

Heard from a ticket rep that renewal of season tix is a huge huge concern for 18. The sponsors are also very unhappy. Also Jimmy has lost confidence in Sashi, already trying to line up plans A B and C. Expect change to be announced in early January minus a remarkable change the last two months.

You can talk about being patient all you want. But there is a price to pay for being the worst product in professional sports two years in a row.

How could a season ticket rep possibly know any of this. They are literally the single lowest on the totem pole

GOOD. I'm glad the fans are stepping up. Enough is enough.

Well, yeah. This is basic sports business.

In baseball? You can kinda sell people on it because it's a slower game that you can drink beers outside, take your kids to and all that stuff. It's the "experience".

In basketball? During the Cavs WORST years (post-Mark Price/Brandon/Phils, Pre-LeBron, Pre-Kyrie) I would see the team market to fans of the game to go see Kobe, Iverson, Ming, Francis..etc ball up.

Hell in Auto racing? People STILL showed up to see a pretty much "boycotted" 1996 Indy 500 because they still had the "Cars" that resembled an IndyCar, and they still had the "traditions" of that event.

In Football? This is it. If you're a Cleveland Football fan, born here, etc. You are not going to be sold on going out in the cold, to watch them get pounded upon. No one is also going to be able to see you watch JJ Watt play against you and do what he does. There is no "tradition" here outside of the team sharing a name with another team with a rich history.

How could a season ticket rep possibly know any of this. They are literally the single lowest on the totem pole

I uh...can confirm otherwise. Sometimes you hear rumbles of a few things here or there. The Ubaldo Jimenez trade I heard about a few minutes before it went down when I was with the Aeros.
