2017 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Though the value of the league average offensive player circa 1995 makes this a difficult comparison.

Most of them were mutated freaks, and I'm assuming Albert was one of them.

Though I hate to say this, but during that era it would be more weird if you didnt at least take some type of substance even unknowingly since it was used like the icyhot/biofreeze type of stuff they use today.

I cannot wait for the spring training games to start! I wanna see how everyone is looking this spring.

Meh, minor injuries always pop up, the fact that Tito says he should be raring to go is a good sign.

TEAMS WOULD BE WISE TO EXTEND THESE YOUNG STARS NOW

Career WAR: 10.8; 2016 WAR: 6.3; service time: 1 year, 113 days

Lindor, Cleveland's shortstop, won't hit arbitration for another two seasons. But after essentially inventing the team-friendly deal in the 1990s, the Indians organization has continued to be aggressive when it comes to locking up young talent. On their roster right now, Cleveland has Jason Kipnis, Yan Gomes, Carlos Carrasco, Carlos Santana, Corey Kluber and Michael Brantley.

Without those deals, Santana and Brantley would already be gone, Kipnis and Carrasco would be gone after this season and Kluber and Gomes gone after 2018. Christian Yelich got roughly $50 million guaranteed over seven years plus a club option from the Marlins two years ago, and that seems fair, but Lindor is a better player at this stage, so let's say seven years and $60 million with a $15 million team option.

Pretty close to the 6 years $50 million I was guessing after the season ended. Would love to see it happen at some point in the next year.

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Indians

Career WAR: 7.4; 2016 WAR: 4.8; service time: 2 years, 74 days

There are questions about Ramirez's game. Before breaking out in 2016 with a wRC-plus of 122, he was well below average with the bat. His 4.8 WAR season is reminiscent of Josh Harrison's 5-WAR 2013 after which Harrison received four years and $27 million with two team options. Ramirez is younger, and Cleveland would certainly hope for a better outcome, but four years, $30 million with a couple team options tacked on the end fits with his market and Cleveland's penchant for extensions.

My guess is we will extend Lindor, Ramirez, Salazar (maybe Bauer) next season if they have another good year. We are set for awhile, I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it, but we need to sign the cornerstone guys probably within the next year or so

So I was selected for tribe live for the dodgers game on June 15th. Has anyone ever participated and what does it mean? Thank you in advance

Since we had Utley interest, any chance we give Lawrie a look?

Was just coming to post this...

If he is healthy, I would hope we would. Gonzalez, Martinez, Rodriguez combo scares the shit out of me. UTIL guy will probably give us ~200+ to 300 PAs this season, and I can't see any of those guys sniffing a .700 OPS.

What are the expectations for Bauer this year? What would you guys be satisfied with?

Gotten better each season. Too much talent to never put together a "figured it all out season" in his career, and that could happen this season.

But I'd be satisfied with his first 200+ IP season as a pro, an ERA in the 3.90 to 4.10 range, a sub 4.00 FIP, a BB/9 under 3 for the season, and ~15 wins, worth between 3 and 4 WAR. Also, over under on drone related incidents: 3.5.

I am all for it, the question is what do we offer him? Do we just get him on waivers or bring him in on a minor/major league deal with incentives and an opt out? Does he want to play for a contender or want playing time?
