2017 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Bradley spends the whole year @ AA, has too much to work on to be moving him up just bc of dingers.

Mejia is the real deal with the bat, several good ABs tonight. The arm is as advertised, as is the work he needs to do on blocking.

Kaminsky was solid but the fastball is still 89-91.

Mitch Brown is getting loud outs.

Kipnis exited the game after a nice defensive stop and throw to end an inning.

Are we expecting Zimmer, or even Bobby Bradley to come up this season?

I would assume Zimmer is the closest, and that we could put him in the outfield and really have a dangerous lineup offensively.

No way Bradley is called up this season. There is a chance Zimmer does depending on variables like how well he is doing, our players health, etc.

I didn't really think Bobby Bradley would be up, but if he's tearing it up, it could be something to consider.

I definitely would love to see Zimmer up here this year. But I agree, his overall play this year plays a major factor, that and the health of this team.

Bradley will likely stay at AA this season even if he's killing the ball. I don't know if there is truly a spot for him at AAA for this season anyways cause of the roster. We have Nellie, Shaffer and the way they have been developing guys, I doubt he does do a whole year at AA. He still has a fair amount to work on, so no rush.

I'd be surprised if Zimmer didn't make an appearance this year. I'd be absolutely floored if Bradley were up regardless of how well he does at AA.

Since Meija is the real deal, Gomes and Perez signed for the the foreseeable future, what the hell are we doing in 2 years? I have no doubt Meija will come in and be some sort of impact. I love the kid.

Its likely we will keep one to start and trade the other and have Meija as a backup for a season/two then have him as a starter. We will likely see him in September of 18 and in 19 we may make a deal if he's ready. It's a couple seasons away so we willl see.

Whenever Mejia is called up, it won't be to be a back up

I think Gomes is playing himself off the roster and Perez still looks like a really nice backup. I think if anything it allows the Tribe to make Mejia earn it as the catcher, which is probably for the best. Remember that Santana will be gone by then, so floating him to 1B or DH in between catching could be an option for him if the bat is ready but he still has work to do behind the plate. Will be a big year for him, seeing how he grows defensively.

Part of me is thinking that, but at the same as a rookie he is likely to at most get 50% of the games depending on how we are doing that season, but that is how I see them developing him, and none of us really know at the end of the day which way he will end up. We will also see how Gomes and Perez are playing as well, if both are strong it will be hard to start to a rookie over either of them.

Clevenger and Merryweather spun gems tonight.

That Akron lineup keeps performing as we thought they would.

How's Aiken's velocity so far this year? That is something I want to keep an eye on this season. I know his season last year was underwhelming, but it was only his first year back from surgery.

Just concerned his velocity might not come back.

It's been 1 start, and most guys build up as the season goes along, so early season velocity doesn't mean much, at least to me...but from what I read, he sat frequently at 92-93.
