2017 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Zimmer appears to be seamlessly transitioning to the major leagues. Mejia will be the starting catching in two years (maybe sooner) and likely has all star talent.
there a bevy of talent down there- and it appears the Indians got the best of the Andrew Miller trade. Would anyone swap Zimmer out at this point? NOPE.
I'm confused, what does Zimmer have to do with the Miller trade?

Plus, the Yankees got two top end prospects, and two rising relief prospects. I'm sure they're very happy with their haul. It was a good trade for everybody.

Frazier isn't in the majors (wasn't last I checked). Zimmer is up, hitting .314 now and playing a solid CF.
Yes there were other pieces, but Frazier was the gem of the trade. Zimmer is out producing him.

Do you think we tricked them or something? I'll bet they wanted Zimmer. Hell, they probably wanted Mejia, too.

They got a very nice haul. Frazier is doing very well in AAA as a 22 year old, and Sheffield is doing well in AA.

It was reported that they wanted Frazier over Zimmer.

Perhaps they did, they have been similarly rated prospects over the years. We'll probably never know for sure.

Regardless, I don't think 40 PA's from Zimmer is enough to start gloating that one is better than the other. I'm excited to have Zimmer, but Frazier is younger, doing great in AAA, and looks to have a really bright future as well.

What do you consider "great"? I don't think Frazier has been great this year. But I agree with the rest of your points. I am really excited for how smooth Zimmer has looked so far. He's stabilized our outfield defensively and is hitting quite well.

.840 OPS and rising after a slow start looks pretty great to me.

OPS was .905 in May. That's almost exactly what Zimmer's was.

Except Zimmer is up filling a needed role for the tribe while Frazier is still in the minors.

He may pan out for the Yankees, but right now the Indians have Miller and kept Zimmer. Tribe > Yanks for this trade.

Frazier is going to be just fine for the Yanks, he'll probably hit a bunch of home runs in that park too.

He cannot play CF, and even though I was skeptical that Zimmer could, he's certainly proven capable given how much ground he can cover out there.

Zimmer is two years older, and if we still had Frazier, he likely would have gotten the call up when everybody got hurt. Being a fresh call up vs being in AAA doesn't really change the value of either player. Mejia is still in AA, and he probably holds more value than either one of them.

Both teams are happy with this trade. It was a balanced trade. There was no loser in this deal.

Surprised to see no mention of Julian Merryweather.

Was called up to AAA, and in his debut went 8 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K against a very loaded SWB RailRiders (Yankees AAA).

Was sitting mid 90s all game...if he just turns either his curve or change into a plus pitch, he becomes a prospect to pay a lot of attention to.

Zimmer is better. Indians won.
