2017 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A couple notes from yesterday's minor league action:

Zimmer had his 3rd straight multi-hit game along with a SB to bring him to .281/.357/.509 with 8 steals in 11 attempts

Mike Papi went 2-4 yesterday to improve to .302/.414/.438 for the RubberDucks. Not nearly as many XBH as Zimmer, but the guy has a great approach at the plate, and draws a ton of walks.

My main man, Mike Papi, added a few more multi-hit games over the weekend to bring his slash line up to .310/.421/.440

If he stays hot, and Zimmer gets a call, I'd anticipate him getting a call up to Columbus.

Papi is 24 and repeating AA, he doesn't need an injury to get bumped to AAA. With A Cbus ofer needed in Cleveland while Guyer is on the DL a spot is available.

He started last year at Lynchburg, but you're right, he played mostly at Akron last year.
I'm just saying he's close to a call up. He's always been bumped up levels before he could gain any traction. Glad to see him finally showing his talent.

Zimmer called up. Hip hip hooray!

Got tagged for a 2 out, 3 run HR in the 3rd, and left with a runner on in the 7th, who eventually came around to score.

Batting average hasn't shown it yet (been a bit unlucky to start the year, at least in the games I've seen to this point), but Bobby Bradley's swing looks so much better this year. Shortened his swing a bit, and added a step in towards the plate to try to limit him pulling off the ball.

K rate is plummeting, BB rate is a career best to this point...hope to see his .225 BABIP change for the better soon...

This is the first time I've seen a McKenzie stat line that had more than 1 earned run. I had to check to make sure it wasn't a typo.

Mejia is 3-6 with 2 HRs in 2 games since his return from the DL

We'll call it an effectively wild outing for McKenzie, who only allowed one hit, but walked five en route to a no decision.

He cruised through 6 innings, but after getting the leadoff man in the 7th, he walked two, both of whom would come around to score on a double off reliever Jordan Milbrath.

Fun stat I just stumbled across:

In 47.2 IP this year across Lake County and Lynchburg, Shane Bieber has 45 K's, but only 1 BB.

His former LC teammate, Aaron Civale, is sporting a similar 51:4 K:BB ratio this year.

Papi made his way to Columbus this past weekend.

3/7 with 2 BBs in his first two games.

Mejia is on fire down in Akron

McKenzie had a middling start for Lynchburg a few days ago

Hard to believe the amount of youth in our farm system. Hell even Lindor and Zimmer are still super young.

How much quality is there?

Honestly is feels like they really undervalue our farm system overall with the analysts in a lot of ways. We have some issues at first base overall and I feel we need slightly better relief talent, but we have a ton of depth at SP, middle infield, outfield and we have what is likely an all star potential catcher at AA, so we have a lot of good quality players. I haven't studied what every team has, but no organization would be complaining if they had who we have in the minors and all the 25 and younger talent that we do have.

Zimmer appears to be seamlessly transitioning to the major leagues. Mejia will be the starting catching in two years (maybe sooner) and likely has all star talent.
there a bevy of talent down there- and it appears the Indians got the best of the Andrew Miller trade. Would anyone swap Zimmer out at this point? NOPE.
