2017 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sounds like Greg Allen may have broken a bone in his hand yesterday. Shame.

Pannone sitting low 90s. Curve looks good. Change is a workable pitch, though he doesn't throw it much. Not sure if he's pumped up more than usually, but he has walked 3. 5 Ks through 3 IP, no ER so far.

So followed along the Lake County game during testing this morning. Aaron Civale and Mike Letkewicz dominated, went 8 IP, 0 ER, 9 K, and allowed 3 total base runners...got me thinking that the 2016 draft classes active pitchers seem to have been dominant to begin 2017. Tallied the stats.

Between Civale, Letkewicz, Shane Bieber, Tanner Tully, Ben Krauth, and Ryder Ryan:

144.2 IP, 2.24 ERA, 29 BB, 149 K. Over 5 Ks per BB, 9.3 K/9, 1.8 BB/9, and a combined 1.047 WHIP. Pretty impressive stuff.

Good to see Mike Papi starting to show why we made him the 38th pick in the draft back in 2014. His approach at the plate is exceptional, and he's finally displaying the advanced hit tool he showed off at Virginia.

Hard to believe how good McKenzie is right now, and he hasn't even filled out yet. Really exciting to have a pitcher like him coming up through the system.

On another note, Zimmer hit his 4th HR and stole his 7th base yesterday. Putting together a nice season for Columbus so far.

Zimmer with 28 hits so far, 16 of which are for extra bases.

.514 slugging percentage thus far. This kid is right on the cusp of being ready, and I would not at all be surprised to see him in June if this offense keeps struggling.

Almonte certainly hasn't taken a hold of the starting RF job against RHP. There is a clear opening here.

Could be a matter of time, if he keeps hitting.

In your opinion

Going to be in Akron before the years over.

They moved him pretty quickly last year when he was dominating (9 starts and 49.1 IP at Mahoning Valley). How soon are you thinking he moves up assuming he keeps up his current play?
